District 3-4A Girls 

District 3-4A is underway with teams getting started this past week.

The West Plains Lady Wolves didn’t waste any time establishing themselves as a top contender in the district by getting wins over Borger 2-1 and an 8-0 shutout of Pampa.

On Wednesday night the Lady Bulldogs played host to the Lady Wolves to open league action. West Plains struck first minutes into the clash on a Lydia Aikman goal to go up 1-0. The Lady Wolves then tacked on to that advantage on a pass from Aikman to Mya Bartlett putting West Plains up 2-0.

Borger tried to rally, however, came up short as West Plains came away with the victory.

On Friday, the Lady Wolves celebrated Senior Night in style with a convincing blanking of the Lady Harvesters.

Bartlett had a stellar outing with two goals and two assists. Teammate Abby Silvestre added a goal with an assist and Aikman was another with a goal.

The Lady Wolves (5-2-2 overall) are off to a 2-0 start to the district season.

Girls district quick hits 

• The Randall Lady Raiders came out strong like rival West Plains beating Perryton 7-0 and downing Borger 4-0 on Friday. The Lady Raiders are now 6-5 overall but more importantly 2-0 in league play. Against Perryton, Ryan Mcclain netted a hattrick while Jani Contreras and Kenzie Brown combined for a shutout in the net.
• Canyon went 2-0 to open District 3-4A nabbing victories against Pampa 3-1 and notching a win over Hereford 11-0. Against Pampa, Aspen Esch had two goals with an assist while teammate Avery Thomas scored a goal adding two assists. In the win against Hereford, Jaylee Blakely tallied a hattrick with Esch and Thomas scoring two goals apiece. Canyon is now 2-6-1 on the season but 2-0 in district.
• Dumas and Perryton each began district with 1-1 records. The Demonettes downed Hereford 6-0 before losing to the Rangerettes 2-1. Dumas is 1-6 on the year. Perryton (1-1) rebounded following a loss to Randall.
• In District 3-5A, Amarillo High continues to be the measuring stick. The Lady Sandies have yet to allow a goal in district play getting two more shutouts with wins over Caprock, 4-0, and a 3-0 blanking of Lubbock High. The Lady Sandies (8-1) are now an impressive 5-0 in league play. Sophia Hernadez had a hattrick against Caprock and added two more goals against the Lady Westerners.
• Following a loss to Amarillo High earlier in the week, Caprock was able to get a 1-1 tie with Lubbock-Cooper on Friday. The Lady Longhorns move their overall record to 1-5-3 on the year and 0-3-2 in district.
• Tascosa played one district clash and that was Saturday against Lubbock Monterey. The Lady Rebels and Lady Plainsman played to a 1-1 draw. Tascosa is now 3-0-1 in District 3-5A and 3-2-2 overall. Tabitha Fowler scored the lone goal for the Lady Rebels.
• The Palo Duro Lady Dons fell to Lubbock Coronado but rallied back to pummel Plainview 4-0. That puts Palo Duro at 4-4-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in district play. Brenda Zepeda had a great day against the Lady Bulldogs earning a hattrick.

District 3-4A Boys 

The boys also got District 3-4A play going over last week.

West Plains traveled to Pampa getting a 1-1 tie with the Harvesters. West Plains took the early first half lead when Christopher Navarette connected with Jaiden Cervantes, for a goal. Pampa battled back to tie the game in the second half, on an Edgar Saavedra goal off an assist from Ismael Perez. From that point forward, neither team was able to create another scoring opportunity.

Pampa went on to another tie this time with Canyon, 4-4, on Friday. West Plains rebounded with a 4-0 victory against Borger on Friday. In that win over the Bulldogs, Andrew Clavel highlighted West Plains with a hattrick.

Boys district quick hits 

• Dumas opened with a pair of district wins beating Hereford 8-0 and holding off Perryton 2-1. The Demons (5-1 overall) can’t beat the start to District 3-4A at 2-0. In the pair of victories, Saul Calderon led the Demons with two goals and two assists.
• After playing Pampa to a 4-4 draw, Canyon soared past Hereford 4-1 on Friday. The Eagles (3-1-3) are 1-0-1 to open district. Nick Hooley had two goals with two assists against the Harvesters and added another goal in the win against the Whitefaces.
• Perryton kicked off district action with a 5-1 victory against Randall before that loss to Dumas. The Rangers are 1-1 in the league and 3-6 overall.
• Borger bounced back following a loss to West Plains downing Randall 5-2. The Bulldogs move to 1-1 in district and 4-6 overall. Against the Raiders, Ulises Castaneda had a goal with an assist. Carlos Medina netted a goal adding two assists and Luis Chavez went for a goal with an assist.
• Caprock stayed hot shutting out Amarillo High 5-0 and then earning a hard fought 1-0 victory against Lubbock-Cooper. The Longhorns are 7-2 overall and 4-1 in District 3-5A. Caprock’s Leo De Leon, Andre Venze and Aldo Carrasco scored goals against Amarillo High. In the win over Cooper, Carrasco had the lone game-winning goal off an assist from Diego Pacheco.
• In District 3-5A Amarillo High dropped a match to Caprock 5-0 but did rebound to knock off Lubbock High 2-0. The Sandies improve to 4-3-1 on the year and 3-2 in district. Frank Ndakize registered two goals against the Westerners for AHS.
• Palo Duro made the trip to Lubbock beating Coronado 6-1 and then took down Plainview 4-0. The Dons push their record to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the league. Against the Mustangs, Daniel Gonzalez had a goal with an assist. Gonzalez also netted a score against the Bulldogs.
• The Tascosa Rebels fell in a heartbreaker to Lubbock Monterey 4-3 giving up two goals in the final minute. The Rebels drop to 6-2-1 overall and 2-2 in District 3-5A. Sebastian Brim scored a goal while adding an assist for Tascosa in the match.
