Amarillo-area girls district basketball scores for December 17th

Randall downs Dumas 

Randall continues its strong start to District 4-4A season getting a lopsided home win against Dumas 72-24 on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Raiders stay hot improving to 3-0 in district and 11-6 overall.

Randall exploded opening a 19-3 first quarter lead then going up 30-5 by halftime.

Tenera Gray made her presence felt on the glass and with her points pulling down 20 rebounds and adding 10 points for a double-double. Teammate Sadie Sanchez scored a game-high 20 in the win.

Spearman cruises by Vega 

Spearman rebounded in a big way by going on the road and blasting Vega 48-13 on Tuesday night.

The Lynxettes shot the ball well and held the Lady Longhorns to under 20 percent from the field.

Spearman didn’t waste any time taking control going on a 16-5 run to open the game.

Morgan Earle had the hot hand for the Lynxettes scoring a game-high 22 points with 16 of those coming in the second half. Ella Wilkerson followed with seven and Lanie Witten chipped in six.

Spearman (12-4) gets its first District 1-2A win going to 1-1 after falling to Stratford on Friday. Vega (10-3) suffers its first league loss dropping to 2-1.

Tuesday’s top performers 

  • Palo Duro’s Zeinab Deng posted a double-double with 14 points in 10 rebounds that lifted the Lady Dons past rival Caprock 39-33.
  • Breanna Perez of Claude finished with a game-high 23 points as the Lady Stangs held off White Deer 49-46.
  • Lefors picked up its first district win racing past Hedley 69-38. Rheba Browning was a key cog in the victory pouring in a game-best 30 points.
  • Gruver’s Hannon Lankford is getting healthy by the week and it showed scoring 18 points including burying four 3-pointers during the Lady Hounds 59-22 blowout win over Sunray.
  • Berlin Bartlett of Pampa poured in a game-high 19 points during the Lady Harvester’s 41-28 victory over rival Borger.
  • West Plains guard Piper Patterson knocked down seven free-throws in the third quarter to finish with 13 points in a 60-46 victory against Hereford.
  • Clarendon knocked off Wheeler 78-7 behind Kenidee Hayes’ 21 points.
  • Kasidy Russell and Hailo Moon combined for 34 points to push the Lady Tigers past Shamrock 54-46. Russell and Moon each had 17 points on the night.
  • Brooklyn Birkenfeld had a game-high 29 points for Nazareth in a 92-20 win over Hart.
  • Silverton’s Maddie Francis posted a game-high 18 points for the Lady Owls during a 37-25 win at Springlake-Earth.

Kale Steed has worked in media since 2002 and has covered sports full-time since 2010, when he joined KVII-TV as a weekend sports reporter and sports anchor.
