The Bobcats look like a team on a mission, and it showed during a one-sided 47-6 victory against Spearman on Friday night at Lynx Stadium.

Sunray is one of five unbeaten teams remaining in the Texas Panhandle improving to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in District 1-2A Division I. The Lynx (2-4) didn’t get the start they were hoping for since dropping into Class 2A falling to 0-1 in the league.

Following a slow first quarter, the Bobcats opened the game up in the second quarter.

Leading 7-0, the Bobcats got the offense rolling on a 3-yard touchdown run by Armando Lujan, a 44-yard pitch and catch for a score from Lujan to Dawson Bennett and then another connection from Lujan to Bennett for a 53-yard TD that put Sunray up 27-0 at half.

Lujan and Bennett were the offensive story. Lujan was on-point going 23-of-30 for 383 yards with six touchdown tosses. The senior standout added another TD on the ground adding 71 yards rushing on six carries.

Lujan is now sitting at 195 career touchdowns sitting only 10 back of Aledo’s Jonathan Gray (205) for the most in state history.

Bennett was a mismatch for the Spearman secondary finishing the game with seven catches for 141 yards with a pair of scores. Teammate Connor Petereit chipped in five catches for 74 yards with two touchdowns.

The Sunray defense limited the Lynx to 168 total yards. Arnold Mendoza totaled 11 tackles with a sack.

On the run, Winters torched Highland Park for 204 yards on only 14 carries with three more scores.
