Top 10 Texas Panhandle football performers from Week 3

Slayden Dickinson, Canadian, RB, Jr. 

Dickinson had a career outing leading the Canadian Wildcats to a huge road win at Dumas 35-28 on Friday night. The junior running back was difficult for Dumas to stop toting the rock 24 times for a career-high 201 yards with two touchdowns.

Quaid Ferris, Bushland, QB, Jr. 

The 6-foot-3 Ferris had his best start to date as the Falcons moved to 3-0 beating Midland Christian 35-14. On the ground, Ferris torched Midland Christian for 136 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. He was also efficient with his arm going 13-of-19 for 158 yards with another two scores.

Uriel Ortiz, Sunray, LB, Sr. 

Behind Ortiz and an impressive performance from the Bobcat defense, Sunray snapped a 13-year losing skid to Stratford getting a 31-14-win Friday. Ortiz was all over the field making 12 tackles, four of those for a loss and added an interception.

Jonathan Henderson Jr., Memphis, WR, Sr. 

Behind quite the outing from Henderson Jr., in a 19-14 win over Ralls, the Memphis Cyclones were able to get their first win since 2022 while snapping a 13-game losing streak in the process. Henderson caught two touchdown passes including a 56-yard score off a one-handed catch between two defenders. Henderson broke loose on the play at the Ralls 35-yard line and sped into the endzone.

Ryder McElroy, Farwell, WR-LB, Sr. 

The 6-foot-4 athlete hardly left the field making play after play for the Steers on Friday. McElroy did everything he could to get Farwell a 43-14 win over Sundown totaling 206 yards of offense. On the ground, McElroy rushed it only three times for 137 yards with two touchdowns. On the outside, he snagged five catches for 69 yards with a score and made six tackles on defense with a fumble recovery.

Kane White-Tinsley, West Plains, WR-DB, Jr. 

The junior two-way player had a monster outing during the Wolves 38-7 lopsided Homecoming win against Lubbock Estacado 38-7. On the offensive side, Tinsley-White hauled in four catches for 110 yards with a TD. Defensively, White-Tinsley had four tackles with an interception.

Tell Bryant, Hereford, TE, Sr. 

Hereford’s versatile tight end showed what a weapon he could be in a 26-16 win against rival Plainview on Friday night. Bryant was a mismatch for the Bulldog secondary snagging five catches for 111 yards with two touchdowns. Hereford is now 3-0 on the year.

Matthew Lopez, Tulia, LB, Sr. 

Lopez made life for the Sanford-Eagles offense during a 33-13 victory. Lopez finished with a game-high 20 tackles with eight solo tackles. The win was the first for Tulia this year and the first for new head coach Fred Jordan.

Dominick Esparza, Borger, RB, Sr.

Borger’s offense finally got going as the Bulldogs found the win column for the first time 45-28 against Big Spring. Esparza sparked the Borger offense rushing for 142 yards on six carries with a touchdown.

Josiah Darnes, Caprock, DL, So. 

Darnes spearheaded an excellent performance from the Caprock defense as the Longhorns picked up their first win of the year 33-8 against Pampa. The Longhorns defense held the Harvesters to 85 total yards. Darnes finished the game with six tackles, three for a loss, and a sack.
