Tascosa sweeps Caprock, coach Bolen gets career win No. 300
It was more than another District 3-5A victory that kept the Tascosa Lady Rebels on a roll in the league during a sweep of Caprock, 25-17, 25-15, 25-11, at the Tascosa Activity Center on Tuesday.
The win was a celebration for veteran head coach April Bolen who earned milestone victory No. 300 in her 12th season as the Lady Rebels head coach.
Just as important, Tascosa carries on its strong play coming off a 3-1 outing at the Randall showcase over the weekend improving to 19-7 overall and 2-0 in 3-5A. Caprock (13-10) suffers its first district loss dropping to 1-1.
Bennett Berryman as usual led the stat sheet for the Lady Rebel defense hitting the floor with 19 digs. Teammates Gabbie Mason and Kassidy Langland each had 12. Avery Scalf had a superb offensive outing with eight kills to go with three aces and Saphina Stanley was strong up front with a team-high 10 kills and three blocks.
Caprock’s Kendall Wilson went for four digs, three kills with a pair of blocks and aces. Teammate Maria Bastardo added 12 digs.
Amarillo High cruises past Lubbock Coronado
The Amarillo High Lady Sandies kept pace with Tascosa easing past Lubbock Coronado at home on Tuesday 25-12, 25-10, 25-14, for the sweep.
The Lady Sandies get their 20th win on the year moving to 20-6 overall and 2-0 in District 3-5A. Coronado now falls to 14-14 overall and 1-1.
The Lady Mustangs had trouble with AHS talented senior Sienna Cavalier. Cavalier blasted a team-best 23 kills past the Coronado defense for a massive effort. Bennett Rea and Payton Cash ran the offense combining for 37 assists and Ellen Head made 12 digs.
In two other 3-5A matchups on Tuesday, Lubbock-Cooper, coached by former AHS head coach, Mike Moffitt, swept Palo Duro, 25-7, 25-13, 25-13. Former Lady Sandie and now Lady Pirate Bird Moffitt had 10 kills in the victory.
Cooper (17-9) wins its district opener going to 1-0. The Lady Dons (10-11) fall to 0-2 in 3-5A.
Lubbock Monterey also picked up a sweep downing Plainview 25-22, 25-9, 25-23. Monterey runs its overall record to 14-12 while going to 1-1 in district. The Lady Bulldogs (10-10) drop to 0-2 in the league.

- Canyon continues its hot play with another thrilling victory. Going to five sets, the Lady Eagles were able to hold off Lubbock-Cooper Liberty at home on Tuesday, 25-23, 24-26, 19-25, 26-24, 15-11. The Lady Eagles, who went 3-0 at the Randall showcase over the weekend, improve their overall record to 13-9. Brooklyn Kinsey finished with 14 kills and three blocks while teammate Sydnee Winfrey added nine kills and five blocks. Cali McKinley led the team with 29 digs while teammate Landri Jay had 22. With those 22 digs Jay surpassed the 1,500 mark for her career.
- Dumas downed Dalhart getting a 25-22, 25-19, 25-17, sweep at home on Tuesday. The Demonettes (14-14 overall) saw Sophie Clements earn a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs. Rylee Schacher played great at the net with 10 kills with four blocks. Teammate
- River Road made a short trip to Wildorado and left with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 sweep. Reese DeHart put together a double-double effort with 32 assists and 11 digs. Teammate Hailey Mayes was efficient with 10 kills, eight digs and four aces.
- West Texas High sent Shamrock home with a loss getting a sweep of the Lady Irish 25-17, 25-11, 25-14. Mikayla Casey and Scout Burris each had seven kills for the Lady Comanches.
- San Jacinto took down Accelerate in straight sets 25-13, 25-14, 25-19. The Lady Patriots pick up their 20th win on the year improving to 20-3 overall.
- Miami knocked off Holy Cross Catholic Academy in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 26-24, 27-25.
- Vega picked up a home sweep of Amarillo PCHEA 25-7, 25-16, 25-15. Jaz Martinez posted another double-double racking up 13 digs with 12 kills. Raelyn Calhoun had 26 assists and seven aces.
