The Lady Buffs will need to find new momentum after falling to rival Lubbock Christian University 75-68 on Thursday at the Rip Griffin Center at LCU, and then 61-58 in the regular season finale at the First United Bank Center on Saturday.

The Lady Buffs end the regular season at 18-12 overall and 13-9 in the LSC. WTAMU will be a No. 7-seed in the LSC Tournament and will open quarterfinal play with No. 2-seed UT Tyler (24-7) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the Comerica Center in Frisco.

Thursday’s game

The Lady Buffs struggled most of the way trailing by 10 entering the locker room at halftime and never could gain footing to catch up the Lady Chaps.

Nyalam Thabach led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs going 5-of-11 from the floor scoring a team-high 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and a block. Karley Motschenbacher chipped in 12 points.

LCU was paced by Audrey Robertson who poured in a game-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting to go along with six boards, one assist and two steals.

The Lady Buffs showed heart and overcame a slow start to the game as a big fourth quarter run gave WT a chance at a win on Senior Day, a last second shot attempt wouldn’t fall as Lubbock Christian left Canyon with a 61-58 victory in the regular-season finale at the First United Bank Center.

Motschenbacher paced the Lady Buffs going 4-of-5 from the floor including 1-of-1 from the floor tallying a team-high 14 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists, one block and a steal.
