How it went down 

It was the final night of the regular season for girls’ action across the state before next week’s postseason gets into full swing. Here’s how playoff scenarios played out for Amarill-area teams.

Caprock was able to pull into a third-place tie with Plainview after holding off Palo Duro 46-38 on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs, who fell to Amarillo High 97-39 on Tuesday, had to forfeit a game to the Lady Longhorns last week due to playing an ineligible player setting up Caprock to finish with a 3-5 record in District 3-5A play. Caprock and Plainview will flip for the third and fourth place spots on Wednesday morning.

The Canyon Lady Eagles soared to a four-decade reign of district dominance. Thanks to a 56-15 thumping of Hereford, Canyon won the outright 4-4A championship securing its unprecedented 38th district title in the last 42 years. Pampa secured the fourth and final playoff spot out of District 4-4A thanks to a 67-31 victory over Dumas along with the Canyon 56-15 win over Hereford.

Dalhart secured second place out of District 1-3A by handling River Road 67-29. Canadian will be the No. 3-seed after beating Bushland at home on Tuesday 46-37. The Lady Falcons are the four-seed.

Stratford won the outright District 1-2A title getting a 43-25 victory against Sunray. Gruver finishes second after downing Sanford-Fritch and Sunray will be the No. 3-seed. With the Fritch loss, and West Texas High’s 44-19 win over Booker, the Lady Comanches and Lady Eagles will have a play-in game for the fourth and final postseason spot at 6 p.m. on Friday at Borger’s Middle School Gym.

Wellington was able to avenge a heartbreaking buzzer-beating loss to Clarendon in the first meeting with a 52-34 win on Tuesday. That victory put the Lady Skyrockets and Lady Broncos in a tie for the District 2-2A championship. The two teams will make a decision on the No. 1-seed on Wednesday. Quanah knocked off Wheeler 45-34 to pull into a third-place tie with the Lady Mustangs. The two teams will have a seeding game for the third and fourth place spot at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Childress.

Boys Ranch nabbed the fourth and final playoff spot from District 3-2A with a 44-23 win at Highland Park on Tuesday along with help from Panhandle which downed Bovina 64-14.

White Deer took the third-place spot out of District 2-1A after beating Hedley 70-14 on Tuesday. Claude will be the No. 4-seed.

With Wildorado and Texline both getting convincing wins on Tuesday night the two teams have tied for the District 3-1A title with 9-1 records. Wildorado will be the No. 1-seed which was decided Wednesday morning. Texline takes the second spot.

Hart handled Kress 72-58 on Tuesday night to take the No. 3-seed out of District 4-1A. Springlake-Earth, which slid past Lazbuddie 43-42, will be the four-seed.

Tuesday’s top performers

Randall’s Sadie Sanchez lit up Perryton in a 67-40 win by going for a double-double with 24 points to go with 16 boards.

Dane’ja White-Agu of West Plains tallied a season-high 33 points leading the Lady Wolves to a 79-47 win at Borger.

Caprock’s Andrea Sustaita scored 11 points to help her team past rival Palo Duro 46-38.

Cambree Dyer of Pampa had a superb outing posting a game-high 28 points in a 67-31 victory against Dumas.

Kylie Cavalier scored a team-high 19 points to lead Canadian past Bushland 46-37. Despite the loss, Brooklyn Boyett of the Lady Falcons had a game-high 27.

Gruver’s Hannon Lankford continued her hot play since returning scoring 20 points during the Lady Hounds 57-34 win over Sanford-Fritch.

Nazareth’s Brooklyn Birkenfeld dropped in a game-high 24 points in a 57-31 win over Happy. The Swiftettes end District 4-1A with a perfect 10-0 mark.

The sister combination of Jami and Jovi Perkins led Wildorado to a 56-45 win at Pringle-Morse on Tuesday. Jami put up a game-high 20 followed by Jovi’s 18 points.

Miami’s Mercedes Ewing scored 24 points during a 47-32 victory against Lefors.

Trinity Schlueter poured in 18 points as the No. 1-ranked Valley Lady Patriots finished District 2-1A with a 10-0 record after handling Groom 54-16.

Celena Gonzales led the Hart Lady Longhorns to a 72-58 win over Kress dropping 24 points.
