The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs didn’t open 2024 how they wanted falling at Midwestern State 75-55 to re-open Lone Star Conference play on Thursday at the D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls. However, WTAMU bounced back with a very important road win taking down Cameron 69-63 on Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Gym in Lawton, Okla.
The Lady Buffs run their record to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the LSC.
WTAMU got off to a slow start against the Lady Mustangs (3-10, 3-4) knocking down just four field goals in the first quarter. The shooting woes continued as the Lady Buffs shot 21-of-65 (32.3 percent) from the field and only 25.9 percent from beyond the arc. Hooker, Okla., graduate, and sophomore guard Hollie Stadler led the way for the Lady Buffs with 16 points including going 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Kertisa Amos had a great showing for the Lady Mustangs pouring in a game-high 19 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor.
Nyalam Thabach had a big outing for the Lady Buffs going for a team-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Stadler was superb with another double-digit effort knocking down 12 points with three rebounds.

The Lady Buffs return home to host LSC rival Angelo State (11-4, 5-1) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday night at the First United Bank Center.
