The TAPPS District 1-3A runner-up are having a fantastic season and that continued on Tuesday night with a convincing 69-52 home victory Coram Deo Plano in the Class 3A area round.

The No. 5-ranked Lady Patriots held an 11-point lead at half only to see Plano cut the advantage to 49-48 by the end of the third quarter. But SJCA took full control in the final frame outscoring Plano 20-4 to seal the win. Mikee McReynolds and Harlie Brabham were fantastic in the win combining for 48 points. McReynolds poured in a game-high 25 points followed by Brabham’s 23.

SJCA (28-5) will play in the regional final against McKinney Cornerstone at a time and place to be determined.

Pampa earns rare gold ball

The Pampa Lady Harvesters turned heads on Tuesday night when they beat Midland Greenwood 60-45 in the Class 4A bi-district round at Lubbock Christian University.

The Lady Harvesters, who haven’t seen a lot of playoff success, earned quite the accomplishment by lifting only their second gold ball in program history and second since 2014.

Pampa took full control of the contest in the second quarter by outscoring Greenwood 20-7 in the second quarter to take a 40-23 lead by halftime. Pampa’s Berlin Bartlett was superb in the win scoring a game-high 17 points. Teammates Rhoda Buckley added 13 points and Cambree Dyer had 12.

Tuesday’s top performers

Jovi Perkins of Wildorado had a huge performance scoring 24 points in the Lady Mustangs 42-31 victory against Springlake-Earth.

Silverton standout Brenna Francis scored a game-high 21 points as the Lady Owls beat Miami 53-23.

Despite a loss, Palo Duro’s Jada Torrence had a massive game against Lubbock-Cooper pouring in 31 points.

Vega’s season came to an end at the hands of Floydada, however, Lucy Richards did all she could for the Lady Longhorns scoring 29 points to go with 13 rebounds.
