Fresh off their championship of the Frenship Tournament on Saturday, the Bushland Lady Falcons showed no signs of slowing down taking down a very talented Hereford team in four sets by a score of, 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 25-17.
Hereford stormed out of the gate taking an 11-6 lead in the first set. The Lady Falcons battled back to take four of the last five points to take the set and the early advantage.
With the second set tied, 11-11, Bushland took over scoring seven straight points to take a commanding 18-11 lead that paced them to a 2-0 advantage. The Lady Whitefaces did battle back to win the third set, but Bushland stopped that momentum to claim the match with the fourth set victory.
Outside hitter Kaela Neie, who was the Frenship Tournament MVP, had another stellar outing knocking down a team-best 24 kills to lead the Lady Falcons. Madyson Eberly added 11 kills, while Logan Culpepper dished out 27 assists. Libero Jada Permenter was strong on the defensive side hitting the floor for 28 digs, adding three aces. Hereford’s London Baker shined despite the loss with an eye-opening double-double of 39 assists on top of 20 kills.
Bushland improves to 19-4 overall. Hereford falls to 18-6.
Amarillo High knocks off Canyon
The Amarillo High Lady Sandies went on the road and defeated Canyon in a four-set victory on Tuesday night.
Amarillo High claimed the first set 25-15 only to see the Lady Eagles battle back to win the second 25-16, before the Lady Sandies took over taking the final two sets 25-14, 25-21.
Ella Krusa and Ryan Pennington combined for 25 kills for the Lady Sandies. Krusa had a team-high 14 kills followed by Pennington’s 11 kills with three aces. Senior setter Jo Moffitt did what she does best dishing out 38 assists and also had 12 digs for a double-double.
Canyon was led by Landri Jay’s 20 kills and Alaina Bellino’s 18 assists.
Amarillo High is now 17-8 overall on the year.
Randall sweeps Lubbock Coronado
Randall had no issues getting past Lubbock Coronado at home on Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders cruised to a sweep beating the Lady Mustangs handily, 25-14, 25-14, 25-14.
Randall moves to a 18-8 overall with the win.
Hitters Jordyn Gove and Tori Lowry had solid outings. Gove led the team with 13 kills, eight digs and four aces. Lowry had 10 kills to go with six digs as teammate Sidney Soria added 34 assists with eight digs.
Tascosa downs Lubbock Monterey
Tascosa rallied back after dropping the first set to beat Lubbock Monterey, 21-25, 29-27, 25-12, 25-16, at home on Tuesday night.
The win lifts Tascosa to a 13-11 record overall.
Molly Culp and Saphina Stanley were strong at the net that gave the Lady Plainsman problems combining for 36 kills in the match. Culp had a game-high 19 kills followed by Stanley’s 17. Meredith Sanning did her part and more with 52 assists and Kassidy Langeland was very impressive racking up 40 digs.
Tuesday’s notes
West Plains kept its moment rolling getting a sweep at Caprock, 25-19, 25-17, 25-13, on Tuesday night. Piper Patterson knocked down 10 kills, Zenaida Murillo handed out 24 assists and McCall Sims added 24 digs. The Lady Wolves are now 21-3 overall.
Palo Duro picked up a four-set win over Clovis N.M., 17-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-10. Precious Johnson had 11 kills with four blocks in the match. Teammate Syvihanna Sutton added seven kills and five aces. The Lady Dons improve to 11-11.
Dumas rolled to a win over Plainview, 25-18, 25-14, 19-25, 25-23. Hannah Hernandez had 16 digs for the Demonettes and teammate Karyme Castillo dished out 20 assists. Dumas is now 18-10.
Pampa took care of Highland Park with a sweep at home, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21. The Lady Harvesters were paced by Mikalie Floyd’s 17 kills, 10 digs, two blocks and two assists. Maecie Hawthorne also had a double-double with 32 assists and 11 digs. Pampa moves to 16-8.
