Vega, Miami take silver medals at UIL State Golf Tournament

Vega and Miami highlighted the Texas Panhandle at the UIL Boys State Golf Tournament that was held in the Austin-area on Monday and Tuesday.

Playing in the UIL Class 2A Tournament at the Lions Municipal Course, the Vega Longhorns went to a playoff with Lindsay, but fell short of a state championship on the second playoff hole, however, Vega (339-345— 684) still finished with a silver medal team performance. Individually, Casen Brorman placed third overall to earn a bronze medal individually. The sophomore shot rounds of 78-80— 152.

At the Class 1A State Tournament played at the Plum Creek Golf Course, Miami won a silver medal as a team with scores of 357-354— 711. Individually, Ben Thrasher took a bronze medal with a third place individual finish. The senior shot rounds of 75-81— 156. Happy (377-373— 750) finished seventh as a team.

The Randall Raiders ended the season placing 10th overall in the UIL Class 5A division. The Raiders carded a 333-314— 647 over the two days. Junior Wyatt Provence led Randall firing rounds of 79-73— 152.

At the UIL Class 3A Tournament, Bushland came in eighth overall (354-351— 705). Christian Brice led the Falcons shooting 88-85— 173.

Canadian senior Ben Bryant scored the best of any Class 3A local competitor placing 21st overall with rounds of 83-79— 162.
