The Bushland Lady Falcons are making it look too easy through the first three games of District 1-3A play.
Bushland earned its third straight shutout by blanking Dalhart in a convincing 30-0 run-rule victory at the Lady Falcons Softball Complex on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Falcons (20-7 overall, 3-0 in district) have outscored River Road, Canadian, and Dalhart by a combined 80-0 through the first three games of league action. Thanks to seven more home runs Monday, Bushland has a impressive team total of 44 on the season.
It was Jaycee Adams setting the pace during the victory against the Lady Wolves. The senior catcher hit two first inning homers on her way to a 4-for-5 afternoon, driving in eight RBIs. Jaycee’s younger sister, Brylee, was once again stellar in the circle throwing all five shutout innings, allowing only two hits, and racking up 12 K’s. Teammate Jillian Howell had a career day at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with a pair of homers, while driving in nine runs.
Dalhart falls to 4-13, 1-2. Canadian and River Road were suppose to play Tuesday, however, the District 1-3A game was pushed to Thursday due to high winds.
District 3-5A
Amarillo High took over sole possession of first place in District 3-5A earning a hard fought 4-3 win at home against Caprock on Wednesday.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the sixth, Kylee Landsbury singled off Caprock pitcher Jaelin Ornelas that scored Kennidee Hill giving AHS a 4-3 lead it wouldn’t relinquish. Starting pitcher Bethany Noble (7-5) tossed a complete game for the Lady Sandies giving up three runs and racking up 12 K’s. Landsbury was 2-for-4 at the dish with the go-ahead RBI. Teammate Bryce Budd was added a homer and two RBIs. Ornelas was 2-for-3 driving in s pair of runs for the Lady Longhorns. AHS improves to 15-11-1 overall, and 3-0 in district. Caprock drops to 12-13, 2-1.
Randall stayed a game back of Amarillo High by going on the road to holding off Plainview 10-7.
Randall held off a seventh inning rally when pitcher Berkley Browder got a double play with the bases loaded to end the contest.
Hope Soria and Anberlin O’Dell were each 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Raiders. Randall is now 14-10-1 overall and 2-1 in district. Plainview is 18-9, 1-2.
Tascosa picked up its first win of league play downing Palo Duro 28-1.
District 4-4A
Canyon stayed perfect in District 4-4A after bullying Borger 17-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the Double Eagle Sports Complex in Canyon.
Kenah Cox was clutch at the plate slamming two home runs, adding a double and a single totaling six RBIs. Teammate Berkley Bradley also feasted on Lady Bulldog pitching going 4-for-4 with a homer and RBIs. Canyon pitcher Kylie Knowles (10-7) worked all five innings of the ru-rule victory allowing two runs with 10 strikeouts. The Lady Eagles move to 3-0 in district and 15-9 overall. Borger falls to 8-6, 1-2.
Pampa also stayed unbeaten in district taking down Hereford 7-2 at home Monday afternoon.
Kynleigh Kirby was dominant in the circle throwing a complete game, giving up two runs with 10 srikeouts to earn the win. Kirby was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer and two RBIs. Hallie Hawthorne also went deep in the victory, finishing her day 3-for-3 driving in two runs. The Lady Harvesters move to 18-4-1 overall and 3-0 in District 4-4A. Hereford falls to 8-15-1, 0-3.
Dumas stayed a game back of both Canyon and Pampa thanks to a 33-5 blowout win against Perryton.
The Demonettes (20-7, 2-1) were led by the big bat of third baseman Cami Velasquez. Velasquez drove in four RBIs on a pair of doubles. The Rangerettes drops to 2-16, 0-3.
