The Randall Lady Raiders highlighted a successful night of bidistrict action among Texas Panhandle teams during the UIL Soccer playoffs on Friday night.
The Lady Raiders earned their first gold ball since the 2017 season thanks to a 2-0 shutout of Lubbock Monterey in a Class 5A bidistrict matchup on the pitch of PlainsCapital Park at Lowrey Field.
Kealy Juarez did the damage for Randall (15-4-1) as the senior netted both goals in the win. Amara Hernandez and Cali Bessent added the assists.
In other Class 5A bidistrict girls action, District 3-5A champion Amarillo High cruised to a 4-1 victory against Abilene Wylie in its bidistrict clash at Frenship. Senior striker Nicole Gray netted a pair of goals with two assist. Teammate Lily Soby added a goal with an assist. AHS improves to 19-2-2 overall.
In the Class 4A girls bidistrict round, Canyon, Dumas and Pampa came away winners at the
Grande Communications Complex in Midland.
The Lady Eagles (15-8-1), the District 2-4A champions, had no problems rolling past Clint 7-0. Bryleigh Burks scored a pair of goals with an assist. Teammate Kenzie Roberts also tallied two goals with an assist.
Dumas (5-10-4) dismantled El Paso Riverside with a 5-0 shutout. Arisbeth Loya scored two goals while teammates Yessenia Gonzalez, Tori Harris and Daisy Sosa also scored.
Pampa (9-10-4) also advanced to the area round with a shutout of its own blanking Clint Mountain View 6-0.
Mya Acosta had a huge night with a hat trick. Teammate Sierra Rodrigez added a goal with three assist, and Ariel Archer had a goal and an assist.
On the boys side, the Palo Duro Dons took care of Abilene Wylie thanks to a 5-2 victory in the Class 5A bidistrict round at Lubbock Monterey on Friday. The Dons improve to 22-1-2 overall. Prolific striker Jaime Carrillo tallied hat trick giving the junior 51 goals on the season.
Amarillo High is headed to the area round with a 2-0 blanking of Abilene Cooper at Frenship. Braden Wilson scored both goals in the victory for the Sandies (16-4-1).
Caprock (10-7-4) nabbed a victory with a 2-1 thrilling overtime win at Lubbock Monterey. Aldo Carrasco scored the game-winner in the 94th minute to earn the win for the Longhorns.
In the 4A boys bidistrict round, Pampa continued its stellar season downing Clint Mountain View 4-1 in Midland. Standout striker Justin Martinez racked up a hat trick to lead the Harvesters (18-2-1). Martinez now has 51 goals on the season.
