Saturday’s game

Class 5A

Division I

Tascosa (10-2) vs. Colleyville Heritage (11-1), 3 p.m., Memorial Stadium, Wichita Falls

The third round of the playoffs are here,

A berth in the state quarters, each would hold dear.

No doubt Heritage can play some serious D,

But Major and L’Travion are playmakers, trust me.

So what will happen on this Saturday in The Falls?

The Rebs play their best game of the year is the call(s). … Tascosa 27, Heritage 24

Last week: 1-2 (.333)

Season: 44-12 (.785)

Friday’s games

Class 4A

Division I

Dumas (9-2) vs. Wichita Falls Hirschi (10-2), 3 p.m., Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldog Stadium, Plainview

This is familiar territory for Dumas, which has reached the third round of the playoffs for the third straight season. The Demons have been able to overcome slow starts in both games and were able to cruise to comfortable victories. They may not be able to afford to do that against Hirschi, easily the toughest postseason foe they’ve had this season. However, Dumas has shown some resilience which has served well this season, and that will lift the Demons this week in a close one. … Dumas 28, Hirschi 27

— Lee Passmore

Last week: 2-0 (1.000)

Season: 43-12 (.781)

Class 3A

Division II

Abernathy (11-1) vs. Canadian (9-3), 2 p.m. Dick Bivins Stadium

These two program’s are no stranger to each other. This is the fourth postseason meeting between the Antelopes and Wildcats in the past seven years. Unlike past years, Abernathy is the favorite this time with an explosive offense that boast receivers Anthony White and Luke Houston. However, never count Canadian out, especially in the playoffs. … Canadian 30, Abernathy 28

Class 2A

Division II

Wellington (8-3) vs. Gruver (10-1), 4 p.m. Happy State Bank Stadium, Canyon

Fans were suppose to get this matchup earlier in the season before mother nature got involved, and the contest was cancelled. The tradition-rich Skyrockets are chasing a third straight trip to the state quarterfinals. Former Wellington defensive coordinator and now Gruver head coach, Lee Brandon, is hoping to keep a dream season alive. This game comes down to who can run the ball, and who makes one less mistake. … Wellington 35, Gruver 23

Stratford (10-1) vs. Wink (9-3), 3 p.m. Lowrey Field at Plains Capital Park, Lubbock

Wink opened eyes last week pouring on 64 points against a very talented Clarendon team. Stratford’s defense will be on high alert against a Wildcat offense that can sling behind QB Kanon Gibson. Luckily, the Elks have their own stud quarterback in Cody Rinne, and a smash mouth run attack. … Stratford 29, Wink 18

— Kale Steed

Last week: 7-2 (.777)

Season: 155-38 (.803)

Class 1A

Division I

Valley (9-3) vs. Happy (9-3), 6 p.m. Bobcats Stadium, Dimmitt

Here’s a rematch of a game played in Week 9 where the Patriots pulled out a last minute 70-68 win that decided the district champion. These two teams have met countless times in the playoffs in the past decade, and the competitions have never disappointed. Valley has its backfield in full speed with Blake Beard and Jaxson Edwards leading the way. The three-headed monster of Pace Bressler, Camden Sperry, and Kyton Johnson will be a tough to stop. Give me the Cowboys pulling out the victory on the back of a couple decisive defensive stops. … Happy 68, Valley 57

— Tommy King

Last Week: 2-2 (.500)

Season: 80-16 (.833)
