This combo was flat out dynamic during a 62-22 route of rival Stratford on Friday. Jones picked the Elks apart going 12-of-16 for 258 yards and three touchdowns. Wood hauled in six of those balls for 159 yards and two of the scores.

Major Everhart, Tascosa, Jr. RB

The junior with blazing speed led a backfield by committee during a 26-20 season-opening win at Abilene High. The Division I prospect carried the rock only five times for 119 yards and a touchdown, while adding a 17-yard TD reception.

Ismael Jimenez, Booker, Sr. RB

It was a career night Jimenez will never forget. Not only did the speedster help the Kiowas to their first victory of the season, 37-30, against Memphis, but Jimenez was impossible to tackle going for an eye-opening 339 yards on 36 carries with four touchdowns, and also added a punt return for a score.

Joe Shaw, Canyon, Sr. WR

Canyon keeps on establishing themselves as a state contender to be reckon with. The Eagles proved that once again Friday night by blanking Midland Greenwood 48-0. Receiver Joe Shaw found a lot of open spaces in the Bulldogs defense snagging three catches for 111 yards with two TDs.

Brayden Klafka, Spearman, Jr. WR

The standout wide receiver made his two catches count, both going for key touchdowns during the Lynx thrilling 43-36 overtime win against district foe Childress. Klafka tallied 83 yards receiving, and had a game-winning interception that ended the game.

Cornelius Landers, Pampa, Jr. RB

Pampa’s do-it-all running back had himself a game at Levelland, leading the Harvesters to a 50-26 victory.

Landers scampered for 207 yards rushing on 25 totes with a score, and also made six catches out of the backfield for 48 yards.

Caden Thompson, Highland Park, Sr. QB

Highland Park broke into the win column for the first time this year holding off Tulia in a 46-44 shootout to open district play. Thompson had a big part, slicing the Tulia defense for 280 yards through the air with five touchdowns. He also added 91 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Angel Gaspar, Gruver, Sr. FB-DL

The senior did all he could to get the Greyhounds their first win of 2020, knocking off previosly unbeaten Shamrock 26-16 on Friday. Gaspar had 23 carries scrapping out 75 yards and two scores, then made four tackles with a sack on defense.

Ryan Grawunder, Vega, Jr. QB

The Longhorns bounced back from a loss last week by rolling Bovina 63-13 on Friday night. Grawunder was on fire tossing five touchdowns in the win and threw for 222 yards.

Braxton Burd, Randall, Jr. QB

The Raiders new QB had quite the debut helping his team to a 47-6 against Palo Duro in Friday’s season opener. Burd was hard for the Dons to tame rushing for a game-high 64 yards on 10 carries and throwing for 95 yards.
