Canyon is making a statement each week they step out on the field and Friday wasn’t any different.

The No. 10 Eagles offense soared as the defense grounded Midland Greenwood for a dominating 48-0 thumping at Hoppy State Bank Stadium.

The victory not only kept Canyon undefeated at 4-0 but it was a milestone night for longtime head coach Blake Bryant, who earned his 150th win.

Bryant has done an amazing job at Canyon leading the Eagles to 150-81 record in 20 seasons as head coach.

As for Friday’s game Bryant’s team came out strong scoring all 48 points in the first half.

Canyon racked up 446 yards offense, limiting Greenwood’s dominant run offense to 222 total yards.

Quarterback Jay Defoor was near perfect going 11-of-13 for 222 yards with four touchdowns. Receiver Joe Shaw caught three of those passes for 111 yards and a pair of scores.

The Eagles host Levelland (1-4) for Homecoming on Friday at 7 p.m.

Harvesters stay hot

Canyon isn’t the only District 3-4A Division I team scoring points.

Pampa exploded by putting up 42 first half points on the way to a 50-26 throttling on the road at Levelland on Friday night.

It’s becoming a broken record to say this, but Pampa running back Cornelius Landers is extremely good at football. Landers sliced and diced through the Lobos by racking up 207 yards on 25 totes with a touchdown. Landers was also able to get out of the backfield snagging four balls for 29 yards and another TD.

Quarterback Jack Studebaker was his steady self. The gunslinger threw for 246 yards on 23-of-33 passing with four touchdowns.

Studabaker’s main target Friday was receiver Jesse Alvidrez who snagged four catches for 94 yards and three touchdowns.

Pampa (5-0) looks to stay unbeaten against Perryton (1-2) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Yellow Jackets sting Demons with fast start

Stephenville got off to a fast start before Dumas knew what hit them at Pirates Stadium on the campus of Lubbock Cooper on Thursday.

Stephenville stunned the No. 4 Demons with a 23-point second quarter to take a 32-12 halftime lead. The Demons defense had all kinds of fits with quarterback Gavin Rountree. Rountree threw for 291 yards and added 76 yards with two more scores

Dumas QB Spencer Williams threw for 205 yards and a touchdown.

The Demons see a very impressive 22-game regular season win streak come to an end.

Dumas (4-1) will enjoy a bye week this coming Friday.

Stephenville 9 23 7 7 — 46
