Brody Cook, Canyon, Sr. RB

The senior running back was stellar in Canyon’s season opening 71-24 route of Burkburnett. Canyon’s offensive balance was on display as the Eagles totaled 666 yards of offense, with 443 coming on the ground.

Cook couldn’t be stopped toting the ball 20 times for a game-high 164 yards with two touchdowns.

Studabaker hardly missed a pass throwing for 301 yards on 37-of-50 passes (74 percent) to go with three touchdowns.

Marc Ramirez, Wellington, Jr. RB-LB

Tough running and great defense is what Ramirz gave the Skyrockets that helped them beat New Deal 22-13 in a Class 2A showdown. Ramirez chewed up 136 yards on 24 carries with a touchdown, and was a menace on defense with 15 tackles.

Zach Hasley, Muleshoe, Jr. QB

Hasley did all he could to help the Mules snap a nasty 13-game losing skid dating back to 2018. The gunslinger picked apart Lamesa during a 42-6 blowout, throwing for 328 passing yards on 19-of-28 completions with four touchdown tosses.

Isacc Garcia, Tulia, Jr. LB

The Tulia Hornets are a quite 2-0 thanks to a nail biting 10-7 victory at Brownfield. It wasn’t the pretties of games but Garcia did all he could to slow down the Cubs making a game-high 16 tackles to keep Tulia unbeaten.

Leaford Calder, Jr. Bushland, Sr. RB

Calder, Jr. showed off his speed and versatility as Bushland bounced back with a 56-10 route of Hereford. The lightning quick senior had touchdown runs 34 and 12 yards. Tate DeBord, Sunray, Sr. QB

For the first time since 2016 Sunray is 2-0 and quarterback Tate DeBord has a lot to show for it. Sunray hobbled Hooker, Okla. 41-6, and for a second straight week the Bobcats QB delivered. DeBord led both teams in rushing, with 278 yards on 27 carries, and passing, completing 8-of-21 for 116 yards for a combined five touchdowns.
