Lubbock-Cooper Liberty sweeps Canyon; Randall head coach Karli Morrison picks up 400th career win

The Canyon Lady Eagles jumped all over Highland Park early and never let up for a 25-8, 25-10, 25-11 sweep Saturday afternoon at the Joe Lombard Gym.

The Lady Eagles (2-1) were led by senior Zoey Sparks eight kills and Makynna Cranmer’s six aces. Highland Park falls to 2-3.

Hereford returned to action for the first time in 10 days after COVID issues on the team.

Hosting a triangular, the Lady Whitefaces battled Bushland in a battle of two of the areas best. The match didn’t disappoint with the Lady Falcons sneaking past Hereford in five sets 20-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19, 15-13.

Bushland’s Kinley Rudder 23 blocks with four blocks. Teammate Hallie Conklin added 15 kills with 15 digs.

Taytum Stow had a big game for Hereford. The Lady Whiteface 6-foot-3 junior middle blocker knocked down 23 kills, made five blocks and had four aces. Bushland moves to 7-0 overall while Hereford falls to 3-1.

Down 287 in Childresss, kudos are in order for first-year coach and former Bushland Lady Falcons great Brett Zaccardo. Zaccardo was a key cog on the Lady Falcons 2013 state championship team, and is now using her wisdom to help rebuild Childress.

After a five-set win against Tulia on Saturday Zaccardo has the Lady Bobcats off to a 5-0 start. The five wins already surpass the Lady Bobcats win total from a year ago with four.
