White Deer sweeps 1-2A/ 2-2A Area Track titles; Boys Ranch Roughriders, Silverton Lady Owls bring home 3-1/ 4-1A Area victories

1-1A/ 2-1A Area Track and Field meet

Just like they did at the district meet a week ago, the White Deer Bucks and Does dominated once more making it a sweep of team championships during the 1-2/ 2-2A Area Track and Field meet Wednesday at Bucks Stadium in White Deer.

The Does were able to total 114 points to fend off Claude, which finished in second place with 92.

On a day where there were so many showcase individual performances, White Deer’s Makayla Chaney helped her team especially in the long distance events taking home three gold medals. Chaney opened her morning with a win in the 3200-meter race clocking a time of 11:58.81. In the afternoon running finals, Chaney won her second individual gold in the 1600-meter race with a time of 5:35.34, and she ended the day with her third trip to the gold medal stand as a part of the 800-meter relay team (1:54.04).
