West Texas A&M and head football coach Josh Lynn announced the Buffs have inked 25 players during Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
The Buffs are optimistic this is a class that can carry on the momentum, following an 8-4 season this past fall on top of winning the Heritage Bowl 28-27 against Arkansas Tech in December.
“We are coming off the most conference wins since 2012,” Lynn said. “We have a lot of build off of with this incoming class. We’ve had some changes in the coaching staff, but we’re making really good moves to fill those spots. We aren’t announcing transfers in this press conference, but we’ll do that a later date. We put a big emphasis on the fronts and some very good athletes.”

Out of the 25 players signed, Lynn and his staff went heavy with 16 coming on the defensive side. Defensive end Dominick Toulon from Houston’s C.E. King High School is one big signee, as he was second in all of Class 6A with 17 sacks.
“If you look at the direction of the LSC, teams are throwing it around,” Lynn said. “It was important to get defensive backs and there was an emphasis on speed with size. We also went heavy on the defensive front. We’re happy with this class and I think it’s up there in what we’ve done here at WT.”
As for the offense, Lynn signed seven total players and only one quarterback. That signal caller is a household name across the Texas Panhandle, in West Plains four-year starter, Reid Macon. Macon garnered attention from many colleges across the state, but Macon decided to stay home.
Macon had an immaculate career for the Wolves, winning 42 total games, getting 12 playoff wins, and ended his high school career throwing for 11,856 yards with 120 touchdowns.
“I love the facilities and being close to home was a big deal to me,” Macon said. “I had a great visit and It’s special to know my family can come watch me anytime they want. I’m excited to be going to West Texas A&M.”
Lynn echoed Macon’s comments.
“I’m extremely happy getting Reid Macon,” Lynn said.” We looked at a lot of quarterbacks, and it always came back to Reid. He was a four-year starter at West Plains High School and he’s a competitor. We felt like he was our guy, and we’re extremely happy to have him. We signed three quarterbacks last year, two of those are still around. We felt like getting Reid is the one we wanted.”
Out of a massive offensive line signed by the Buffs, Boyd’s Braxton Reasoner (6-foot-4, 290-pounds) will be one to keep an eye on. Reasoner was highly recruited as a three-star prospect, landing over 20 offers.
On top of Macon, Lynn did sign other local talent in Randall wide receiver Kaison Benton, and Randall defensive lineman, Garrett Splitt. Tascosa’s Damyen Cervantes (defensive back) and Daveon Woodruff (defensive line) are also now signed to WT, as is Palo Duro’s Shalom Gonzalez (defensive line).
