Bushland beats up Littlefield
Bushland had the boom sticks out Friday and Saturday combining for 30 runs during a two-game sweep of Littlefield in the UIL Class 3A Division I bi-district round on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Falcons opened the series with a powerful 17-2 run-rule win at Littlefield on Friday night, then Bushland defended its home turf Saturday afternoon by erasing an early 4-0 deficit soaring to a 13-5 victory.
Bushland (16-14) is now off to the regional quarterfinal round to square off with Brownfield (16-1) with a best-of-three series starting at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Plainview Softball Complex.

The Lady Falcons wasted no time jumping all over the Lady Wildcats (17-14) Friday’s opener scoring six runs in the first three innings to take a 6-0 lead. Bushland then blasted the doors wide open by posting seven runs in the top of the fourth highlighted by Mattee Rehkopf two-run double. Rehkopf was 3-for-3 in the win adding a homer on top of the double to finish with four RBIs. Teammate Chayney Snelson went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and four RBIs of her own and Piper Francis drove in three runs.
In Saturday’s clinching win, Littlefield jumped out 4-0 after one, but the Lady Falcons quickly chipped away. By the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Falcons had taken full control leading 7-4 and never looked back. Addison Appier feasted on Lady Wildcat pitching with a dynamic performance. Appier hit two balls that left the yard on the way to a team-high seven RBIs. Kylee Jordan hit a solo shot and Zaylee Wilson was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs driven in.
Canadian makes history with first ever playoff series win
The Canadian Lady Cats made school history winning the programs first ever playoff series with a pair of one-run extra inning victories against Slaton on Friday and Saturday at Highland Park High School.
Canadian, a school that started a softball program a near decade ago, beat Slaton in an exciting 6-5 eight inning win Friday night and then by a thrilling 4-3 count in nine innings on Saturday.
The Lady Cats (24-7) will now take on Alpine (17-14) in the regional quarterfinals at a time and place to be determined.
In Friday’s opener, Macee Davis drove in Maddlynn Longoria on a fielders choice for the eventual game-winning run in the top of the eighth to give Canadian the victory. On Saturday, Callie Flowers hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth that plated Kendall Bell for the sweep.
Longoria threw all 17 innings for the Lady Cats giving up a total of eight runs with 12 strikeouts. Longoria was also drove in two runs at the dish.

Childress edges Muleshoe
In a battle of great pitching, the Childress Lady Bobcats were able to scratch across a run which was just enough to get by Muleshoe 1-0 during a one-game UIL Class 3A Division II bi-district clash in Floydada.
This contest was scoreless through the first three innings before the Lady Bobcats finally broke through. That key run came when Camrie Bachausen advanced to first on an infield single that plated Emily Dominguez.
The lone run was more than enough for Childress standout hurler Ansley Parr. The junior had her pitches working holding the Lady Mules scoreless over all seven innings, scattering just three hits while piling up 10 strikeouts.
Despite the loss, Muleshoe pitcher Adalie Agundis tossed six innings allowing a run with seven K’s.
Childress (25-2-1) is headed to the regional quarterfinals to take on defending state champion Coahoma (21-3) in a one-game scenario at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stamford.

CLASS 4A
West Plains wins thrilling series against Andrews
In quite the thrilling series, West Plains was able to get two key runs in extra innings of the third and final game to knock out Andrews during the UIL Class 4A Division I bi-district round Thursday and Friday at the Littlefield Softball Complex.
The Lady Wolves took the first game 3-1, before falling 11-5 in the second contest. In the third and decisive finale, West Plains plated two runs in the top of the eighth to hang on for an exciting 12-10 victory to advance.
West Plains (23-11) will now move on to the regional quarterfinal round for a date with El Paso Ysleta (20-13) with the first game of a best-of-three series set for 4 p.m. Thursday at the Monahans Softball Complex.
The Lady Wolves trailed Friday’s Game 3, 7-3, before scoring seven runs in the top of the fourth to take a 10-7 advantage after four. Leading 10-8 in the top of the seventh, the Lady Mustangs rallied back posting two runs tying the game 10-10 forcing extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Preslee Irvin stepped up for the Lady Wolves delivering a two-run home run that lifted West Plains to the series win.
Irvin was 2-for-4 on the day including that 2-run blast. Jaylen Kaps came up clutch at the plate going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Dumas destroys Midland Greenwood
The Dumas Demonettes opened the playoffs how they ended district play, and that’s by making quick work of Midland Greenwood thanks to a 13-0 shutout and 14-6 victory for a sweep in the UIL Class 4A Division I bi-district round.
The Demonettes got the bats going in Game 1 courtesy of the deep ball. Dumas blasted five homers against Greenwood in the matchup while hitting for the home run cycle. Madia Zubia hit two homers, Emarie Marquez went deep twice as well and Yari Vargas added to the homer parade.
In Game 2, Vargas carried that momentum going 4-for-4 with two more deep blasts totaling four RBIs, and Zubia added two more home runs for a game-high six RBIs.
Dumas (30-2-1) will take on San Elizario (14-16-1) in a one-game regional quarterfinal set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Seminole Softball Complex.
Randall rolls past Fort Stockton
Randall was able to roll past Fort Stockton for two convincing wins to claim the UIL Class 4A Division II bi-district championship Thursday and Friday at the Seminole Softball Complex.
The Lady Raiders dominated Fort Stockton in a 14-3 for a run-rule win Thursday, followed by a 9-1 win to close out the sweep Friday.
Randall (26-8) is headed to the regional quarterfinal round to battle El Paso Riverside (19-12) with the first of a best-of-three series set for 5 p.m. Thursday back in Seminole.
Randall’s Presli Mancha went a combined 5-for-8 in the sweep with a homer and seven total RBIs. Teammate Alyssa Navarrete tossed 10 total innings with a combined six strikeouts allowing just four runs.
Canyon gets by Monahans
It took all three games, however, the Canyon Lady Eagles were able to get by Monahans to win the UIL Class 4A Division II bi-district championship.
Canyon lost Game 1 by an 11-7 count Thursday, but were able to rally back with a 7-3 win and an 8-5 victory Friday to take the series.
In the decisive third game, Isabella Quintanilla played a huge roll for the Lady Eagles going 3-for-3 with a double and a homer to finish with three RBIS. Miley Brown worked a complete game in the circle for Canyon allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts.
Canyon (22-13) is now set to play Clint (15-12) in the regional quarterfinal with the first of a best-of-three series starting at 8 p.m. Thursday in Hobbs, N.M.
CLASS 2A
Sanford-Fritch dominates Quanah
A 10-run second inning set the tone for the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles on the way to a 25-2 blowout of Quanah in a single game UIL Class 2A Division I bi-district contest at the Highland Park Softball Complex on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles finished the game pounding out 16 hits on top of the 25 runs. Allie Lovejoy helped pace a big day at the dish going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. Teammate Lincoln Bidwell followed going 2-for-4 with three runs driven in. Kodee Griswold and Mya Hartranft also went deep in the win.
Fritch (14-6-1) is going to face off with Abernathy (12-5) in the regional quarterfinals at a time and place to be determined.
Gruver piles up the runs in sweep of Lockney
The Gruver Lady Hounds piled up the runs during a sweep of Lockney in the UIL Class 2A Division II bi-district round Tuesday at the Palo Duro Softball Complex.
In total, Gruver scored a combined 48 runs during the two wins against the Lady Longhorns. The Lady Hounds won the opener 15-5 before an eye-opening 33-12 victory to earn the sweep.
Remi Grimes was all over Lockney pitching in both games going a combined 8-for-9 while driving in a total of 10 runs. Grimes finished the sweep with three doubles and a home run.
Gruver (9-5) has advanced to the area round to square off with Sundown (23-3) at a time and place to be determined.
