Week 6 is in the books and there were some big-time performances from some unbelievable athletes. Let’s take a look at some of those top performers across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains.
Reid Macon, West Plains, QB, Sr.
Though West Plains suffered a heartbreaking 41-35 overtime loss to an elite Argyle Liberty Christian team, quarterback Reid Macon did his part to give his team a chance to win. The star-studded senior also achieved a special milestone in the contest going over 10,000 career passing yards in his 45th career start. Macon finished the night going 17-of-24 for 163 yards passing with a touchdown and ran for 113 yards with four scores.
Julian Reese II, Palo Duro, QB, Jr.
Reese is getting better and better by the week and it showed Friday leading the Palo Duro Dons to their biggest win to date in an impressive 48-6 victory at Wichita Falls Memorial in the District 2-5A Division II opener. Reese was on his game through the air going 13-of-17 for 223 yards with touchdown passes. He also rushed for another 32 yards.

Cedric Ross, Lubbock Estacado, RB, Sr.
The Colorado State commit took matters into his own hands leading the Matadors from a 13-point third quarter deficit for a 28-20 win at home Thursday night. Ross found the endzone three times all in the fourth quarter to rally the come-from-behind win. Ross started things with a 24-yard touchdown reception, then had scoring runs of 10 and eight yards. Ross finished the night carrying the ball 17 times for 127 yards.
Kannon Aven, Bushland, QB, Jr.
Aven got the start and took full advantage helping snap Bushland’s four-game losing skid with a 35-28 road win at Perryton. The junior gunslinger was able to pick a part the Ranger secondary going 20-of-30 for 290 yards with three touchdowns. He also rushed for 44 yards on 10 carries for another score.
Lucian Davis, Childress, RB, Jr.
Childress went on the road and picked up a huge win at Stratford, 41-26, on Friday night. Leading the offensive charge was Davis who had one of his better games of the season. Davis was able to run behind a strong offensive line effort that allowed the junior to chew up the Elks defense for 166 yards on 19 carries with TD runs of 65, 46 and six yards.
Cooper Martin, Shallowater, QB, Sr.
Shallowater and Martin was dialed in making quite the statement with a stunning 52-20 rout of previously unbeaten Canadian on Friday night. Martin was in complete control of the offense using his feet to rush for 74 yards with two touchdowns on only eight carries and was then 18-of-23 passing for 225 yards with three more scores.
Hunter Trusler, Dalhart, QB, Sr.
Hunter Trusler did Hunter Trusler things during a Golden Wolves 59-0 shutout against Muleshoe. The senior dual-threat QB torched the Mules with his speed piling up 161 yards on the ground on 10 carries with three touchdowns. He then went 5-of-10 passing for 130 yards with another TD.
Cam Taylor, Lubbock Monterey, WR, Sr.
The explosive wideout was a complete mismatch for the Lubbock Coronado secondary. During a 42-7 drubbing of their city rival Mustangs, Taylor showed how dangerous he can be making the most of five catches finishing the game with 123 yards while finding the endzone on three separate occasions.
Kason Vogler, Vega, QB, Sr.
The Vega Longhorns were back in the win column getting a hard fought 20-0 shutout at home against Memphis. Vogler did his job on the offensive side of the ball eating up the Cyclones defense for 123 rushing yards on 19 totes with a pair of scores. He also threw for 27 yards.
Kolson Allen, Farwell, QB, Fr.
The freshman keeps coming into his own and helping his team stay hot as Farwell blasted Friona 49-27 on Friday night. Allen had a huge night in the passing game going 15-of-22 for 198 yards with three touchdown tosses. Allen also used his legs to tack on 51 rushing yards.
