It was a clean sweep for Borger on the pitch Friday night at Bulldogs Stadium.

Behind late-game heroics from the Bulldogs, and an offensive explosion from the Lady Bulldogs, Borger protected home turf and delivered a pair of district wins over Perryton.

The boys game was a physical battle. The Bulldogs struck late to knock off the visiting Rangers 1-0 in dramatic fashion.

From the opening whistle, Borger controlled possession and dictated tempo, keeping steady pressure on the Rangers defense, creating several quality chances at goal, in the first half, but the finish never came.

Despite the Bulldogs controlling much of the first half, it ended in a scoreless tie, setting the stage for a dramatic second half. Borger continued to apply pressure after the break, but could not score,  Perryton’s keeper, Isaac Ramirez protected the net well all night.

Tension built, as the clock ticked down, but the breakthrough finally came with 6:56 remaining on the clock.

Julio Saucedo delivered a perfectly placed pass, through the defense, connecting with Ulises Castaneda, who beat the defender to the ball, and finally put one past the Perryton goalie, giving Borger the 1-0 lead and the game-winner.

From there, Borger dug in defensively, and held on for a thrilling 1-0 win over Perryton, the Bulldogs move to 7-9-2 on the season, and finish the first round of district play at 2-4-1, Perryton falls to 5-5-3 overall, 2-3-2 in District action.
