Class 4A Boys bi-district

The Dumas Demons opened the playoffs in fine fashion by bullying Burkburnett in an 8-0 shutout at Happy State Bank Stadium on Thursday.

The Demons (14-2-3) are now headed to the area round to square off with San Elizario (19-2-2) at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Midland.

Josh Samarripa had a strong game for Dumas scoring a goal while adding three assists. Ismael Marchan added a goal with two assists to help in the win for the Demons.

In the other Division I matchup, West Plains season came to an end at the hands of Decatur 3-1 in the bi-district round. The Wolves end the year at 14-6-2.

In the Division II ranks, District 3-4A champion Perryton suffered a shocking 1-0 heartbreaking loss to Graham. Perryton ends a great season at 13-8-1. Borger also saw its year come to a close falling to Bridgeport 4-2. Noah Dimmit tallied both goals for the Bulldogs, who end the year at 11-11-1.

Class 5A Boys bi-district

Caprock is moving on after taking down Wichita Falls Legacy 3-2.

Aldo Carrasco, Fernando Lira and Ari Avila scored the goals on the assists from Luis Castellon and Jared Alamo. Caprock (15-4-2) is headed to the UIL Class 5A Division I area round to battle El Dorado (14-6-2) at noon, Tuesday in Midland.

Lubbock Monterey stayed unbeaten on the year beating Abilene High 4-1. The Plainsman (19-0-2) will take on El Paso Americas (12-6-1) at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bulldog Stadium in Artesia, N.M.

Regulation wasn’t enough for Palo Duro and Abilene Cooper. After a 1-1 tie in regulation, the Dons outlasted the Cougars to get the victory in a Class 5A Division II bi-district clash.

Palo Duro (12-5-2) punches a ticket to the second round and will play El Paso Burges (17-3-2) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Midland.

Angel Macias scored the lone regulation goal for the Dons. Jose Garcia, Ever Gutierrez, Merci Mrama and Tharcisse Butoyi all netted penalty kicks.

Class 4A Girls bi-district

The District 3-4A champion Randall Lady Raiders made quite the statement to open the postseason.

Randall absolutely blasted Bridgeport 8-0 during a Class 4A Division II bi-district contest Friday at Happy State Bank Stadium. Randall wasted no time setting the tone scoring 18 seconds into the game. Kyndal McClain finished with a hattrick and added an assist. Rylee Bailey had a pair of goals as did Ryan McClain, who also dished out two assists.

Randall (18-5-1) is moving on to the area round to battle San Elizario (20-2-2) at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Midland.

In the other Division I matchup, Borger suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to Graham in a bi-district game Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs end the year at 14-6.

West Plains had the most thrilling game of the Class 4A Division II bi-district round by beating Burkburnett 2-1 in overtime Friday at Happy State Bank Stadium.

The Lady Bulldogs drew first blood late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. West Plains was able to finally break Burkburnett’s frustrating defense scoring off a penalty with 6:44 left in regulation. Mya Bartlett buried the penalty kick tying the game 1-1. After a scoreless first overtime, the Lady Wolves made the comeback complete off an incredible goal by Kat Torres.

West Plains (16-3-3) survived and is now headed to the area round for a date with El Paso Ysleta (14-9) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Andrews.

Unlike West Plains, Canyon wasn’t able to keep its season going. The Lady Eagles were blanked by Decatur 6-0 in the Division I bi-district round. Canyon finishes the season with an 8-14-1 record.

Class 5A Girls bi-district

Sophia Ferro helped Amarillo High to a 2-0 shutout against Abilene High during the Class 5A Division I bi-district round.

Ferro scored a first half goal and then had an assist to Saylor Carroll for the second goal. Amarillo High (18-1-2) cruises into the area round to square off with El Paso High (18-2-1) at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Midland.

Tascosa’s season is also still going. The Lady Rebels earned a hard fought 1-0 win against Wichita Falls Legacy in a very good Division I bi-district battle. Tabitha Fowler assisted Karina Garcia for the lone goal helping Tascosa get the victory.

Tascosa (11-5-4) will now face El Paso Chapin (16-4) in the area round at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Midland.
