Tascosa rallies past Joshua

The Tascosa Lady Rebels are headed back to the UIL Region I-5A Division I championship game for a second straight year.

The Lady Rebels were able to put together a strong fourth quarter to rally past Joshua for a 48-37 win during a regional semifinal on Monday afternoon at Childress High School.

The Lady Owls (36-5) led 24-22 at the half and were up 37-33 after three. However, Tascosa tightened up the defense and picked up the offense in the fourth quarter to outscore Joshua 15-0 to claim the victory.

Devaeh Johnson paced the Lady Rebels with 19 points, followed by Nic’Kiyah Fisher’s 17. Teammate Kenzee Dickson added nine.

Tascosa (32-3) is now set up for a showdown with defending UIL Class 5A Division I state champion, Denton Ryan (34-4) in the regional championship, which is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Childress High School.
