TUESDAY’S QUICK HITS
Palo Duro rallies past Amarillo High
The Palo Duro Dons were able to snap a two-game losing skid with a huge home win against crosstown rival Amarillo High 54-44 during a District 3-5A game Tuesday night at the Palo Duro Activity Center.
The Dons (16-5 overall) keep themselves in the league race at 5-2 while bouncing back after two tough losses to Tascosa and Lubbock Monterey last week. The Sandies (18-6) suffer their first loss in the league, dropping to 6-1.
There was a slow start to this clash with AHS leading 18-14 at the break. Both teams picked up the intensity in the third quarter, with the Dons leading 36-33 after three, and then PD was able to pull away down the stretch to get the victory.

Zalen Nodine had it going from the perimeter, as the Don guard knocked down five, 3-pointers, to finish with a team-high 15 points. Teammate Cuda Clayton chipped in with 10 points. Despite the loss, AHS guard Jax Richards posted a game-high 16 points.
McLean handles White Deer
In a battle for district supremacy, it was the McLean Tigers handling White Deer 70-48 in a District 2-1A showdown.
The Tigers showed, at least in the first round of district, that they are the class of District 2-1A, improving to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in league action. The Bucks (10-10) fall to 4-1 in district action.
McLean standout Collin Alston was a mismatch for the Tigers, pouring in a game-high 23 points. Andrew Montoya added 16 for the Tigers.
