Tascosa Lady Rebels, Amarillo High Lady Sandies, West Plains Lady Wolves, all advance in UIL soccer playoffs

Tascosa blanks El Paso Americas

The Tascosa Lady Rebels are rolling through the first two rounds of the playoffs. After getting a convincing win in the bi-district round, Tascosa was able to shutout El Paso Americas for a 2-0 victory during the UIL Class 5A Division I area round at Midland’s Astound Broadband Stadium on Monday.

The Lady Rebels (18-4-2) will now face Burleson Centennial in the regional semifinals at 5 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.

Rylee Anderson and Tabitha Fowler scored the goals for Tascosa while Karina Garcia nad Emersyn Sprock dished out the assists. Mikala Watson was strong in net, not allowing a goal in the win.

Amarillo High edges El Paso High

Amarillo High is moving on to the third round after getting past El Paso High thanks to a 2-1 win in the UIL Class 5A Division I area round Tuesday at Midland’s Astound Broadband Stadium.

The Lady Sandies used two goals from standout Sofia Pepper with Sophie Ferro and Madeline Rankin providing the clutch assists.

AHS (22-2-1) have now advanced to the regional semifinals to battle Colleyville Heritage at 7 p.m. Friday at Burkburnett High School.

West Plains knocks off San Elizario

The West Plains Lady Wolves are the only 4A team left standing after the second round. The Lady Wolves were able to knock off San Elizario by a 2-0 count to claim the Division I area championship Tuesday night at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.

The Lady Wolves (19-5-1) will now move on to the regional semifinals for a matchup with Stephenville at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Snyder High School.

Triniti Fernandez and Lydia Aikman each scored a goal in the victory against San Elizario. Teammates Charleigh Jackson and Tristan Chambers added the assists and goalie Bailey Dobrowolski made five saves in a shutout effort.

Three Texas Panhandle teams did see seasons come to a close in the area round. The Borger Lady Bulldogs, the District 3-4A champions, fell to Midland Greenwood 2-1. In the 4A boys playoffs, Pampa dropped a close one to El Paso Bowie 3-2, and Dumas was shutout by El Paso Ysleta 1-0.
