The Tascosa football program was honored on Tuesday morning being selected as one of 10 schools to receive a special commemorative edition cover page of the 2021 Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine.

DCTF and Suddenlink have partnered this summer to showcase 10 football programs across the state that include — Abilene Cooper, Bryan, Conroe, Georgetown East View, Lubbock Coronado, Midland Legacy, Prosper, San Angelo Central, Tascosa and Tyler Chapel Hill —

to put on the cover of the annual summer magazine.

“This is very special to us,” DCTF vice president of operations Robel Melesse said. “It gives different players from across the state a chance to see themselves and be featured on the magazine. It also gives us a chance to showcase different parts of the state. This is an exciting time, to see your school and your name in the magazine is a memory you can have forever. We hope this is something they can cherish for a longtime.”

In addition to getting a custom cover on the prestigious magazine, Tascosa head football coach Ken Plunk is featured with an in-depth Q&A and the entire Tascosa 2021 roster is displayed on the back page.

“It’s a great honor,” Tascosa football coach Ken Plunk said. “Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is so iconic, and Suddenlink is very respected. To honor us as one of the 10 teams across the state is a big deal, and something these guys will have the rest of their lives.”

Tascosa’s body of work speaks volumes of why the Rebels were chosen to be one of the 10 schools chosen for a special edition cover.

Tascosa is preseason ranked No. 11 at the Class 5A Division I level by DCTF, and are a combined 28-11 over the past three seasons that include runs to the Class 6A Division II semifinals in 2018, followed by an appearance in the Class 6A Division II state quarterfinals in 2019.

“Our success we’ve had the past few years has really garnered us some statewide recognition,” Plunk said. “It’s an honor to the players we’ve had and the current players. There are some great names that were selected to be a part of this, so it’s a true honor.”

Suddenlink and DCTF distributed 250 copies to the Tascosa football team for the coaches and the players.
