Randall wins boys title, girls second at Hereford Rumble

The day pretty much belonged to Randall on Saturday afternoon at the Hereford Rumble wrestling tournament.

Randall almost swept the team points titles, with the boys being particularly dominant and the girls finishing second in the team standings.

With 265.5 points, Randall finished 55.5 points ahead of second place Canyon in the boys’ team standings. In addition, Randall’s Mikey Ruiz was named the outstanding boys wrestler after dominating in the 113-pound class.

Randall’s girls fell just short of winning the team title with 124 points, two points behind champion Frenship.

Ruiz, a sophomore, was one of six Randall boys’ wrestlers to win individual titles in the meet. In the title match Ruiz defeated Hereford’s Diego Tino via technical fall at the 4:25 mark.

Also winning titles for the Randall boys were Abraham Campa Cortes (106 pounds), Kason White (132), Nathaniel Ruiz (138), David Mora (144) and Mark Gallegos (165).
Tascosa also had multiple winners with Landin Lamberth winning at 150 and Jaxon Johnson taking the title at 215. Azariah Martinez of host Hereford won at 157 and James Sully of Boys Ranch won at 190.

On the girls’ side, Randall had four individual winners. Andie Romero won at 107, as did Lauren McHamb at 114, Morgan Green at 145 and Emma Heaton at 165.

Canyon had two individual winners, with Alizae Reveles winning at 100 and Haleigh Oglesby of Canyon won at 152. Other local winners included Hereford’s Mareetza Maceda at 185 and Borger’s Ariana Chavez at 235.
