NCAA cancels men’s and women’s Division II South Central regional

The NCAA announced Thursday that the NCAA Tournament has been canceled amid concern over the coronavirus.

The stunning news trickles down into all of the NCAA including Division II. Both West Texas A&M, and Lubbock Christian University were set to host men’s and women’s South Central Regionals starting Friday and Saturday, but due to the latest concerns those tournaments have been cancelled. Here’s West Texas A&M’s statement regarding the South Central Regional.

“In accordance with the announcement from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) concerning COVID-19, West Texas A&M is saddened to announce the cancellation of NCAA DII Men’s and Women’s Basketball South Central Regional Championships scheduled to take place this week.

If you purchased tickets for the men’s basketball South Central Regional Basketball Championship, please read the following:

For Credit/Debit Card Purchases

As of 3-12-2020 at 11:20am all credit/debit card transactions have been refunded. Please allow up to 72 business hours for the transaction to be credited to your account.

For Cash Purchases

Please bring your game tickets as well as the receipt that you received at the time of purchase to the Ticket Office for a refund to be issued. Last day for refunds will be Wednesday 3-18-2020 before 5:00pm.

For Check Purchases

If you have purchased tickets with a check, your check has been voided and shredded. No charges to your account should have taken place.
