
The high school volleyball season continued cruise on Tuesday as District 3-5A picked back up on top of some key non-district games. Check out the results from the Texas Panhandle and South Plains teams that saw action from Amarillo High hosting Plainview, Tascosa taking on Lubbock High, Lubbock Coronado’s thriller with Lubbock-Cooper and Lubbock-Cooper Liberty’s home clash with Canyon.
District 3-5A
Amarillo High pummels Plainview
Amarillo High kept on trucking through District 3-5A making fast work by pummeling Plainview with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 home sweep on Tuesday night.
The Lady Sandies stay atop the district standings at 3-0 and improve to 16-8 overall. AHS also has also quite the total going winning 55 straight district games dating back to 2020. The Lady Sandies are even 19-0 in league play under second-year head coach Haleigh Burns.
With the loss, Plainview (9-13) remains winless in district dropping to 0-3.

Harper Vaughn and Bennett Rea had big offensive nights for the Lady Sandies. Vaughn, the sensational sophomore, led the team with 13 kills on the outside adding a pair of aces and a block. Rea ran the offense with a team-high 16 assists. That put Rea with over 1,000 assists for her outstanding career. Teammate Stella Crawford had eight assists, Grace Hughes tallied eight kills and Ellen Head was strong defensively with 15 digs.

Lubbock Coronado edges Lubbock-Cooper
In the game of the night out of District 3-5A, Lubbock Coronado earned a thrilling five-set road win against Lubbock-Cooper on Tuesday night. The Lady Mustangs took the first two sets 25-14, 25-18 only to see the Lady Pirates battle back to win the next two sets 24-26, 23-25. However, in the fifth and decisive set, Coronado swung back the momentum getting the 15-10 victory.
The Lady Mustangs move to 2-1 in District 3-5A and 13-13 overall. Cooper (12-5 overall) now stands at 1-1 in the league.
Coronado’s Hailee Parrott was clutch all game leading the Lady Mustangs with a big hitting night of 19 kills to go with eight digs and four aces. Teammate Vivien Welch added 12 kills with a pair of blocks. Malory Holdman and Caitlyn Olguin combined for 37 assists. Holdman handed out a team-high 23 with Olguin adding 14. Addison Brown led the defensive effort with 20 digs.
Bry Carlile registered a double-double for the Lady Pirates thanks to 13 kills with 11 digs as did Haley McCallick going for 13 digs with 11 kills. Broox Lopez finished with a game-high 43 assists.
Tascosa tames Lubbock High
The Tascosa Lady Rebels were able to keep pace with Amarillo getting home sweep of Lubbock High, 25-15, 25-23, 25-9, on Tuesday at the THS Activity Center.
Addison Merrell and Libby Miller did a great job passing combining for 35 assists. Merrell had a team-high 18 assists as Miller followed with 17. Merrell chipped in five aces as well. Avery Scalf benefited from the strong passing with 14 kills. Bennet Berryman excelled from the serving line with five aces and Gabbie Mason added 16 digs.
The Lady Rebels push their overall record to 15-8 overall and are now 3-0 in league action. LHS (6-21 overall) falls to 1-1 in District 3-5A.
Lubbock Monterey sweeps Caprock
On Monday night, the Lubbock Monterey Lady Plainsman downed Caprock in straight sets, 25-18, 25-10, 25-18, at the Plainsman Gym.
The Lady Plainsman used a big effort from Ari Johnson. Johnson had a team-high 11 kills. Teammate Avery Bradley played her part with 19 digs and 12 assists for a double-double.
Monterey improves to 2-1 in District 3-5A and 18-8 overall. Caprock (10-9) is still seeking its first district win dropping to 0-3.

Non-district quick hits
Randall defended its home court during a non-district showdown against a very talented Shallowater team. The Lady Raiders played strong on both offense and defense to come away with a hard fought, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20, sweep of the Fillies. Randall improves to 14-11 overall while Shallowater falls to 19-6. Coming off a strong weekend, Nevaeh Conner carried her momentum for Randall knocking down 14 kills with 11 digs for a double-double. Teammate Chloe Brown had nine kills, and Kambree Gonzalez added 26 digs. Shallowater’s Carli Buckley had 10 digs with nine kills. Emma Clawson added eight digs with seven kills.
One of the better non-district games on the schedule Tuesday didn’t disappoint with West Plains holding off Bushland in five sets, 21-25, 25-13, 25-22, 18-25, 15-10. Bella Wineburg had a superb outing for the Lady Wolves putting together a double-double with 19 assists and 13 digs. Aaniyah Kitchen had big swings with 24 kills and Kynzie Ward added 18 kills. Cecilia Murrillo led the team with 33 assists. Bushland’s Berklee Billington totaled a team-high 13 kills with Laynee Adams kills. West Plains moves to 17-8 overall. Bushland is 25-6 on the year.
Lubbock-Cooper Liberty stayed on fire getting a tough win over a gritty Canyon team at home, 25-22, 26-24, 25-23, on Tuesday night. The Lady Patriots led by Campbell Beeler’s 12 digs and 11 kills. Lexie Allgood went for nine kills and four digs. The Lady Patriots are now 25-2 overall.
Pampa handled Palo Duro getting a four-set win at home, 25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 25-10, on Tuesday. The Lady Harvesters push their overall record to 13-6 on the season. Karsyn Brown and Karina Gonzlez each had seven kills in the victory.
Dalhart played very good volleyball to down rival Dumas in four sets, 25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 25-13. The Lady Wolves used a big effort from standout Kammi Maddox who finished with 17 kills and 14 assists for a double-double. Maddox also had five blocks at the net. Kaetlin Sundvahl had a great passing night with 22 assists. Despite the loss, Dumas’ Gabi Holt had 28 digs. The Lady Wolves are now 19-4-2 on the season. Dumas drops to 13-13.
Hereford downed Denver City in a five-set thriller, 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 21-15, 15-12, on Tuesday night. The Lady Whitefaces (12-10) got a monster offensive night from Lilly Madrigal who dished out 48 assists and hit the floor for 21 digs for a double-double. Teammate Kyndal Valdez was stellar defensively with 33 digs and Teagan Thomas had big swings going for 23 kills.
Fresh off winning the Tulia Tournament championship, the San Jacinto Christian Academy Lady Patriots were able to carry that momentum to a win against Sanford-Fritch in sweeping fashion, 25-19, 25-12, 25-21, on Tuesday. Blayne Robison tallied 37 assists with Jenni Bell benefiting knocking down 13 kills. Alayna Daniel had 15 digs and Jaxsyn Amero totaled three aces. The Lady Patriots move to 18-3 overall.
River Road made quick work of Wildorado at home with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-18, sweep. The Lady Wildcats push their overall record to 15-9 overall. Harlea Adams led River Road with 10 digs, seven kills and was amazing at the serving line with seven aces. Sophomore Gracie Froneman had 10 digs with seven kills and Mollie Mayes chipped in with 14 assists.
The Highland Park Lady Hornets were able to sting White Deer with a 25-5, 25-8, 25-17 sweep during a non-district matchup Tuesday. Aliyah Robinson racked up an eye-popping 11 aces with kills. Teammate Haley Rogers was equally impressive with 14 assists and eight aces of her own. Highland Park is now 8-12 overall on the season.
