District 3-5A

Amarillo High handles Plainview 

It was another quick night of work as the Amarillo High stayed perfect through the early stages of District 3-5A play getting a 25-11, 25-6, 25-9, sweep at Plainview on Friday night.

The Lady Sandies dominated throughout the match with Sienna Cavalier leading the charge putting together a double-double knocking down 14 kills with 11 digs. Payton Cash and Bennett Rea combined for 30 assists and Leia Young did a great job at the net with eight blocks.

AHS (21-6 overall) is now 3-0 in district. Plainview (10-11) is still seeking its first league win falling to 0-3.

Tascosa sweeps Lubbock High

Tascosa kept pace with Amarillo High by keeping an unblemished mark in 3-5A play downing Lubbock High, 25-13, 25-13, 25-10, on Friday night in Lubbock.

The Lady Rebels are now 20-7 on the season and 3-0 in district. LHS (11-16) struggles continue at 0-2 in 3-5A.

Bennet Berryman put together a superb effort for Tascosa with 11 digs and four aces. Kassidy Langeland followed with 10 digs and three aces. Libby Miller handed out 20 assists and Avery Scalf tallied a team-best 10 kills.

Caprock falls to Lubbock Monterey, Lubbock-Cooper sweeps Lubbock Coronado 

It wasn’t the best of Friday’s for the Caprock Lady Longhorns falling to Lubbock Monterey in straight sets, 25-13, 25-23, 25-22.

With the loss, Caprock (13-11) moves to 1-2 in District 3-5A. Monterey (15-12) stays atop the league race at 2-1.

Caprock’s Grace Morales ended the match with nine digs and five kills.

Lubbock-Cooper is off to a great start in district getting a sweep of crosstown rival Lubbock Coronado, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23.

Former AHS Lady Sandie standout Bird Moffitt had a tremendous game for LCP hitting the floor for 27 digs adding 13 kills for a double-double.

The Lady Pirates are now 2-0 in district and 18-9 overall. Coronado (14-14) falls to 1-2 in the league.

Non-district quick hits 

  • Bushland kept rolling through its non-district schedule by going on the road and getting a sweep of Hereford, 25-12, 25-12, 25-12, on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons push their impressive record to 25-4 overall. LillyAnn Shannon produced on the outside with 13 kills. Mackenzie Sims ran the offense with 28 assists and Avery Ramos totaled 26 digs.
  • West Plains looked strong in front of the home crowd making quick work of Shallowater on Saturday with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-19, sweep on Saturday. Piper Patterson powered down 11 kills while Bella Wineberg and CeCe Murillo combined for 35 assists. The Lady Wolves improve to 15-9 overall.
  • Dalhart picked up a big home win over Pampa in four-sets 25-11, 30-28, 23-25, 25-15. The Lady Wolves strong start to the year continues at 16-4-1 overall.
  • Dumas downed Odessa High at home on Saturday in cruising fashion, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19. Haley Winegarner and Rylee Schacher were great at the net combining for 19 kills. Madi Zubia provided the defense with 3.5 blocks. Dumas improves to 15-14 overall.
  • The Randall Lady Raiders weren’t able to come home with a win falling on the road to Lubbock-Cooper Liberty 25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 22-25. The Lady Raider (14-11) were led by Brooke Henderson’s 15 kills and Sidney Soria’s 25 assists. Teammate Lyn Chavarria had a team-high 20 digs.
  • River Road won a pair of matches against Highland Park and Memphis during a triangular on Saturday. The Lady Wildcats (18-6) defeated the Lady Hornets in four-sets 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, followed by a sweep of Memphis, 25-5, 25-8, 25-19. Heaven Hammett totaled 45 digs in both matches. Reese DeHart dished out 58 assists and Hailey Mayes combined for 20 kills in the victories.
  • Despite the loss to River Road, Highland Park bounced back to beat Memphis 25-13, 25-13, 25-15. The Lady Hornets (12-12) saw Tessica Deanda have a solid showing with 13 assists, five aces and four kills. Teammate Abigail Boyd went for seven kills.
  • The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles knocked off Tulia 25-20, 25-22, 25-16, on Saturday afternoon. Emma Williams knocked down 14 kills. Teammate Zoe Deatherage did her job with 14 assists. Fritch is off to a 15-4 start on the year.
  • West Texas High went on the road and picked up a 25-17, 25-18, 25-18, win at Miami. Zoe Smith hit the floor for 18 digs. Teammate London Morrison led the team with 11 kills and Addison Lindley finished with 14 assists. The Lady Comanches move to 13-8.
  • Vega kept on rolling with a four-set win over Olton, 25-9, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17. Jaz Martinez and Addi Bidegain both had double-doubles. Martinez posted 23 digs with 16 kills while Addi Bidegain tallied 14 digs and 12 kills. Raelyn Calhoun added 36 assists. The Lady Longhorns improve to 19-4 overall.
  • The San Jacinto Lady Patriots dominated Amarillo PCHEA for a 25-12, 25-18, 25-15 victory. Alayna Daniels is having a great year and that continued with 12 kills. Harlie Brabham went for 18 assists and five aces and Mia Whitney was strong on defense with 15 digs.
  • Borger fell to Odessa High in Dumas on Saturday 21-25, 14-25, 28-30. The Lady Bulldogs (10-10) had Kooper Buchanan finish with seven digs and six kills.
