High School Volleyball District roundup – Hereford sweeps West Plains, Caprock clinches playoff berth

District 4-4A

Hereford keeps pace with sweep of West Plains

Hereford made it a season sweep of West Plains while keeping itself a game back of Randall for first place on Tuesday night.

The Lady Whitefaces had no issues going into West Plains walking out with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-14 victory.

Hereford is now 11-1 in District 4-4A and 32-7 overall. The Lady Whitefaces will host Randall (31-8 overall, 12-0 in district) in a showdown for a chance to tie for the league lead at noon on Saturday. West Plains (29-8) falls to 7-5 in district.

London Baker did a great job of moving the offense handing out 31 assists and added nine digs. Camryn Blair did the work at the net with 16 kills, followed by Nikilah Whatley’s 10 kills and three aces. Zenaida Murrillo had 18 assists to lead the Lady Wolves.

Randall grounds Canyon

For the second time in the last couple of weeks the No. 10-ranked Randall Lady Raiders eased past rival Canyon thanks to a 25-17, 25-18, 25-18, sweep.

Randall is in full control of District 4-4A at 12-0 standing at 31-8 overall. The Lady Raiders visit Hereford (32-7, 11-1) on Saturday with a chance to claim the district title outright. Canyon (10-29) drops to two games back of the fourth and final playoff spot with only two games remaining at 5-7.

It was the usual suspects doing the damage for Randall. Jordyn Gove provided plenty of power with 20 kills and hit the floor for 13 digs. Sidney Soria handed out 40 assists and showed great defense with 11 digs and Tatum Brandt added 17 digs of her own. Canyon’s Sydney Winfrey had six kills, and Landri Jay registered 10 digs.

Pampa, Dumas get victories

Pampa took care of business by beating up Borger with a 25-10, 25-19, 25-15, sweep.

With the victory the Lady Harvesters (23-13) pull into a third-place tie with West Plains in district at 7-5 and two games ahead of Canyon for the final playoff spot.

Mikalie Floyd was a big reason for the sweep knocking down 16 kills and hitting the floor for 12 digs. Mazi Smith was equally impressive with 12 kills, and teammate Maecie Hawthorne did the work with 32 assists.

Dumas snapped a recent losing skid by downing Perryton 25-12, 25-15, 25-3.

The Demonettes improve to 22-19 overall and 4-8 in district. Brooklyn Sianez had 10 kills, while Halie Coon showed her versatility with 10 assists and an eye-popping eight aces.

District 3-5A

Caprock clinches third spot

The Caprock Lady Longhorns are postseason bound thanks to taking a bite out of the Plainview Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday night.

Caprock played really well getting a hard-earned sweep 25-15, 25-16, 25-22. The Lady Longhorns (20-16 overall) also move to 3-4 in District 3-5A which secures the third playoff spot out of the district. Plainview falls to 13-24 overall and 1-5.

Olivia Hurnes and Reese Dindinger tallied six kills apiece, and teammate Olivia Ortiz chipped in 16 digs.

Tascosa stays hot

It was another night at the office for the Tascosa Lady Rebels as they took down Palo Duro 25-6, 25-14, 25-15.

Meredith Sanning had a strong performance handing out 37 assists with two aces. Saphina Stanley was powerful at the net with 12 kills and Kassidy Langeland provided defense with 14 digs.

Tascosa (23-16 overall) has secured second place in District 3-5A at 6-1 but can pull into a first-place tie with Amarillo High (29-9, 6-0) when the two rivals square off on Saturday. Palo Duro slips to 14-19, 0-6.

District 1-3A

Bushland is on cruise control

Bushland keeps on cruising this time easing past Dalhart with a 25-8, 25-3, 25-18, road win.

The Lady Falcons run their impressive district win streak dating back to 2011 up to 80 straight games with the victory. Bushland clinches the outright District 1-3A title in the process at 6-0 and moves to 33-4 overall. Dalhart falls to 14-18, 3-4.

Bushland had 33 kills as a team led by Madyson Eberly’s 10 and three blocks with three aces. Kenzie Sims had a team-high four aces and made 15 assists.

Friona took over sole possession of second place by downing Dimmitt 25-10, 25-12, 25-17. Friona is 4-3 in district and 18-14 overall. Dimmitt drops to 3-28, 0-6.

District 1-2A

WT High takes down Fritch

West Texas High earned a big home win by getting past rival Sanford-Fritch for the second time in district 25-15, 25-23, 13-25, 25-14.

The Lady Comanches take over second place in District 1-2A at 5-2 and move to 14-15 overall. The Lady Eagles are still in third place at 3-3 in the league and 14-15 overall.

WT High played stellar defense to get the victory. Zoe Smith made a game-high 33 digs, followed by Josslyn Gray’s 26 digs and Emily DeLuna’s 15.

Highland Park stays perfect in district

The No. 10-ranked Highland Park Lady Hornets remained perfect in the district standings handing Vega 25-12, 25-8, 25-12.

Highland Parks gets its 30th win of the season improving to 30-7 overall and 6-0 in District 1-2A. Mercedes Harton finished with a double-double for the Lady Hornets racking up 20 assists and 18 digs.
