District 4-4A along with District 5-4A, District 1-1A and TAPPS District 1-2A all got underway Tuesday night. District 3-5A also continued. Here’s a recap from Tuesday including Canyon’s district opening win over Pampa, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty’s victory against Frenship Memorial and Fort Elliott’s sweep of Shamrock.
District 4-4A
Canyon takes down Pampa
The Canyon Lady Eagles used a big offensive performance from Laney Jones to open District 4-4A on the right foot getting a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, sweep of Pampa on Tuesday night at the McNeeley Fieldhouse in Pampa.
The Lady Eagles soar to 11-12 on the year and 1-0 in district play. The Lady Harvesters fall to 14-7 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Jones played her part on the outside taking advantage of every opportunity knocking down a game-high 21 kills for Canyon. Teammate Neelie Henson was strong in the middle to compliment Jones adding seven kills with a pair of blocks. Brylee McElroy and London Gibson did a solid job making sure the offense ran smoothly combining for 33 assists. McElroy paced the team with 19 assists with Gibson adding 14. Both McElroy and Gibson had eight digs apiece on defense as did Aiva Kerr.

West Plains beats up Borger
West Plains continued its recent strong play by going on the road and picking up a District 4-4A sweep of Borger 25-17, 25-16, 25-12, on Tuesday.
Aaniyah Kitchen has been on fire of late as the McNeese State commit was at it once again with a team-high 15 kills to go with three blocks on the front row. Teammate Taos McGehee went for eight kills to help the offense and Cecilia Murrillo carried out 23 assists. Defensively, Idaly Sotelo had a team-high 12 digs and Ava Barksdale added 10 digs.
The Lady Wolves (19-9 overall) are now 1-0 in District 4-4A. Borger (9-12) drops to 0-1.
Randall rolls past Perryton
Randall made a long trip north worth with a four-set victory at Perryton on Tuesday, 25-14, 25-9, 26-28, 25-18, to open the district schedule.
The Lady Raiders push their overall record to 15-12 on the year and are now 1-0 in District 4-4A. The Rangerettes are 7-12 overall and 0-1.
Freshman Chloe Brown did it all in the victory powering down nine kills, hit the floor for 19 digs and was stellar at the service line with a team-high eight aces. Nevaeh Conner led the team with 13 kills and Kambree Gonzalez chipped in with 13 digs and six aces.
Hereford handles Dumas
It was a big night for the Hereford Lady Whitefaces getting a much needed home win to kick off the district season with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-23, sweep against Dumas on Tuesday night.
Hereford’s Kyndall Valdez celebrated a special night. With her team-high 15 digs against the Demonettes, Valdez has now gone over 500 digs for her career. Teagan Thomas led the Lady Whiteface offense with 15 kills and Lilly Madrigal passed around 18 assists and went for seven digs.
Despite the loss, Sophie Clements did have a double-double for Dumas with 17 assists and 10 digs.
Hereford improves to 13-11 overall and 1-0 in district. Dumas falls to 13-14 overall and 0-1.
District 5-4A
Lubbock-Cooper Liberty opens district in style
Lubbock-Cooper Liberty made a District 5-4A statement with a dominating sweep of upstart Frenship Memorial in what looks to be a budding rivalry in years to come with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-12, sweep on Tuesday night.
The Lady Patriots are playing unbelievable volleyball at the moment improving to 27-2 overall and are now 1-0 in District 5-4A. The Lady Panthers fall to 16-7 and 0-1.
Lexie Allgood and Campbell Beeler are a dynamic 1-2 punch for Liberty combining for 26 kills with each finishing the game with 13. Allgood also added eight digs in the win.
Teammate Jacelyn Gestes made sure the offense ran smoothly with a team-high 21 assists. Frenship Memorial’s Mercedes Rodriguez had nine assists, three digs with a block. Teammate Mackenzie Ivy added five kills with four digs.
In two other District 5-4A scores Tuesday, Levelland defeated San Angelo Lake View, 25-19, 30-28, 26-24, and Big Spring beat Lubbock Estacado, 25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18.
District 3-5A
Amarillo High, Tascosa cruise to setup Saturday showdown
Amarillo High and Tascosa both stayed unbeaten in District 3-5A on Tuesday to set up a Saturday showdown. The Lady Sandies will take on the Lady Rebels at noon, Saturday, in the first of two district meetings at the THS Activity Center.
AHS was able to stay perfect in district cruising by Lubbock High 25-9, 25-7, 25-11. Tascosa (17-8, 4-0) went on the road and dismantled Lubbock Monterey 25-11, 25-12, 25-10.
The Lady Sandies (18-8, 5-0) were led by Harper Vaughn’s 16 kills and six assists. Bennett Rea had 20 assists and Kinsler Hanson added six digs.
Tascosa’s Gabbie Mason had nine kills, Bennet Berryman added 18 digs and Addison Merrell went for 17 assists.
Lubbock-Cooper also picked up a victory beating Caprock, 25-21, 25-11, 25-18. Brynlyn Barnwell had eight kills and Broox Lopez dished out 27 assists. The Lady Pirates (15-8) are 3-1 in District 3-5A. In one other game Tuesday, Plainview beat Palo Duro, 25-23, 25-18, 32-30.
District 1-1A
Fort Elliott, Miami kickoff district with wins
District 1-1A is officially underway with a full slate of matches on Tuesday.
Fort Elliott got things rolling with a sweep at Shamrock on Tuesday, 25-11, 25-8, 25-11. The Lady Cougars continue a strong start to the year at 15-6 overall and 1-0 in the league. Shamrock falls to 6-5 overall and 0-1. Ali Mahler had seven kills with four aces to lead the Lady Cougars. Teammate Jaycee Sewell ran the offense with 20 assists.
Miami made it a quick night of work defeating Wildorado in straight sets, 25-15, 25-10, 25-18, on Tuesday. Bentley Brooks was all over the court getting a double-double with 20 digs and 13 assists. Harper Hale played her part with 28 digs and Brylee Thompson was clutch with 10 assists and seven kills. Miami (9-5) is 1-0 in District 1-1A. Wildorado (3-15) falls to 0-1.
The Kelton Lady Lions started district defeating upstart Channing 25-4, 25-0, 25-7, on Tuesday. The Lady Lions stay unbeaten on the year at 8-0 overall and 1-0 in district. Channing is still seeking its first win at 0-8 and 0-1. Shai’Lee Dougherty had an incredible serving night getting an eye-popping 22 aces for Kelton.
Darrouzett won the other District 1-1A match Tuesday defeating White Deer in four sets, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15, 26-24. The Lady Longhorns are now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the league. The Does drop to 2-15 overall and 0-1.

The San Jacinto Christian Lady Patriots started TAPPS District 1-2A action with a lopsided victory against crosstown rival Holy Cross Catholic Academy, 25-10, 25-5, 25-5. The Lady Patriots push their record to 20-3 on the year and 1-0 in district. Holy Cross falls to 1-11 overall and 0-1. Blayne Robison had 28 assists for SJCA and Alayna Daniel added eight kills with four aces. In another match, Ascension Academy lost to Lubbock Kingdom Prep, 12-25, 17-25, 21-25.
Lubbock Coronado stepped out of district to knock off Frenship 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 25-21. The Lady Mustangs (14-13) saw Hailee Parrot Curtis have a masterful performance with 21 kills and 12 digs for a double-double. Addison Brown was unreal on defense with 29 digs.
Sanford-Fritch held off River Road in a five-set thriller, 25-18, 21-25, 16-25, 25-21, 17-15. Emma Williams knocked down 17 kills for Fritch with Allison Lovejoy passing around 17 assists. River Road sophomore Gracie Froneman had a triple-double with 13 assists, 13 digs and 12 kills.
Highland Park took down Memphis in sweeping fashion 25-16, 25-8, 25-19 on Tuesday. Aliyah Robinson paced the Lady Hornets with 12 kills and four aces. Tylar Ashley and Haley Rogers each had 15 assists. Highland Park is now 10-13 overall.
