Amarillo High clinches outright 3-5A title

Amarillo High took care of business in more ways than one with an 11-1 thumping of rival Tascosa on Tuesday afternoon at the Lady Sandies Softball Complex.

With the win, the Lady Sandies (24-6 overall, 7-0 district) clinched the outright District 3-5A championship for a fourth year in a row. Tascosa (9-20, 2-6) will be the No. 4-seed out of the district.

Braylee Shuffield was 2-for-2 for the Lady Sandies driving in a game-high four RBIs. Teammate and slugger Danae Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Tessia Guzman worked four shutout innings to get the win with five strikeouts.

In the other district clash, Plainview beat Palo Duro 23-0. The Lady Bulldogs (8-10, 4-3 district) will be the No. 3-seed out of 3-5A.

District 4-4A

Dumas clinches share of district title 

The Dumas Demonettes took care of business with a 25-1 blistering of Borger on Tuesday afternoon to grab a share of the District 4-4A championship.

Dumas (25-6), which sits at 11-2 in the district can clinch the outright league crown with a win at Pampa on Friday.

Vida Fiero had a huge day against the Lady Bulldogs going 3-for-4 with two home runs including a grand slam to finish with a game-high six RBIs. Star Cortez pitched all five innings with eight K’s.

West Plains stays a game back of Dumas 

The West Plains Lady Wolves kept themselves in the mix for a share of the district title with a blasting of Perryton 30-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Wolves (15-15-2) sit at 10-3 just a game back of Dumas (25-6, 11-2) in the District 4-4A race. West Plains can earn a share of the district title with a win against Borger on Friday and a Pampa victory over Dumas.

Against Perryton, Desiree Hernandez went 4-for-5 with two homers and a triple totaling four RBIs. Teammate Bella Wineberg had a pair of doubles with four RBIs and scored five runs.

Canyon and Randall stayed tied for fourth 

Canyon and Randall both picked up wins Tuesday to stay tied for the fourth and final playoff spot out of District 4-4A.

Randall dominated Hereford 12-1 while Canyon earned a huge win over Pampa 11-0.

The Lady Raiders (17-16) and Lady Eagles (16-14) are tied for the fourth spot at 7-6 with one game remaining. Randall will play at Perryton on Friday and Canyon will travel to Hereford.

Pampa (14-10) is sitting in third place in the 4-4A at 9-4.

District 1-3A

Bushland’s dominance continues 

Bushland earned another outright District 1-3A championship with a beating of Canadian 24-0 on Tuesday.

The Lady Falcons are now 23-4-1 overall and a perfect 9-0 in District 1-3A to get another title.

Brylee Adams and Abby Howell did the damage for Bushland. Adams was 3-for-4 with a homer tallying four RBIs. Howell was also 3-for-4 with a triple and a homer with four RBIs.

River Road secured second place with a 31-0 win against Dimmitt. The Lady Wildcats (18-9) are 6-3 in the district but will be the No. 2-seed thanks sweeping the season series against Tulia.

Tulia (17-11-1, 6-3) will be the No. 3-seed after beating Dalhart 4-2 on Tuesday. The Lady Wolves (11-12-1, 4-5) are the No. 4-seed.

District 1-2A

Clarendon and Sanford-Fritch cruise 

As expected, Clarendon and Sanford-Fritch stayed atop the league standings with wins on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Clarendon bounced Booker 19-1 on Tuesday and Sanford-Fritch downed Claude 5-0 on Wednesday.

The Lady Broncos improve to 25-3-1 overall and 10-1 in District 1-2A. The Lady Eagles move to 17-6 overall and 8-1 in the league.

In the other district game Wednesday, West Texas High beat Gruver 9-5.
