On the court: Soria had a magnificent week leading the Randall Lady Raiders back to the UIL state tournament for the second time in four years. The sophomore setter has done a tremendous job taking control of the Randall offense and it showed in wins against Monahans, Decatur, then Hereford in the Region I-4A Tournament championship on Saturday. In all three victories, Soria combined for 160 assists, averaging 53 assists per match, totaling 36 digs with 12 kills and two aces. On the season, Soria is having a stellar season leading Randall with 1,543 assists, 166 kills, 367 digs and 30 aces.

Coach Haleigh Burns: “Sidney is a once in a while kind of player you don’t get very often. She’s a heck of a competitor and a coach’s dream true. She works constantly and does anything asked of her. She has so much fun doing what she loves on the court and has so much fire. Sidney makes my job so much easier and watching her over the weekend was amazing. I am so proud of her and to watch her grow and knowing she does it all for her team is pretty cool.”

Soria: “We pushed ourselves and we knew we had what it takes to get to state. It was a complete team effort, and I wouldn’t be where I am without my teammates making me better. I feel I’ve improved so much since the start of the season. That comes with great coaching and being pushed. Everyone holds each other accountable and that comes with the great chemistry we have. We just need to go down to state and play our best volleyball and show everyone why we are there.”
