Presli Pool, Canyon track and field, Fr.
On the track: The talented Canyon Lady Eagle stamped an incredible freshman season with a historic performance at the UIL Class 4A state track and field meet. Helping the Lady Eagles to their fourth team state championship since 2019. Pool set the tone to open the meet by recording a new conference record of 10:26.73 to claim the gold medal in the 3200-meter event. Pool’s time was four seconds better than the previous state record mark. On top of that amazing time, Pool earned her second gold as part of the Canyon mile relay team (3:50.9) and took silver in the 1600-meter race with a 5:00.52.
Not only did Pool walk away with two gold medals and a silver at the state track meet, but she also won a bronze medal in the fall during the UIL Class 4A state cross country meet.
Coach Ray Baca: “Presli had a great season and it was exciting to watch. She came out and put herself on the map during the cross country season and as the year went on she continued to exceed expectations. We knew how capable she was of setting the meet record in the 3200-meter race because of her speed and the workouts she was having leading into the meet. Then, to do what she did in the 1600-meter race and then wanting to be a part of the mile relay was special. She is a hard working young lady and the sky is the limit for her.”
Pool: “Being a part of a team championship was something I’ll never forget. Watching Addyson Bristow on her final leg win the race for us was surreal. I was nervous as a freshman coming in, but I knew I had come a long way. It was super exciting and I knew if I pushed myself I could break that 3200-meter record. I just want to keep growing and getting better, and I can’t wait for next year.”
