Emma Troxell, Bushland basketball, Sr.

On the court: The Abilene Christian University signee had a massive week racking up a pair of double-doubles that kept the Bushland Lady Falcons perfect in District 1-3A play. During Wednesday’s 35-24 win at Spearman, Troxell poured in 20 points with 11 rebounds with three assists. On Friday, Troxell absolutely took over in a 55-41 victory at Tulia by dropping in a career-high 38 points on 15-of-26 shooting from the floor, going 8-of-9 from the charity stripe, and nabbing an eye-opening 19 boards. On the season the senior leader is putting a team-best 16.4 points a contest, shooting 82 percent from the field, adding nine rebounds a game and three assists.

Coach Ty Mayfield: “I didn’t even realize she had 38 points till the game was over the other night. I’m not surprised. She took the game over and really helped us get that win. That’s just who Emma is. Emma has been a tremendous player ever since I’ve been coaching her. When I look up she’s always scoring a double-double. She is just the type of player that can elevate her teammates by how she plays and always does a great job of making everyone better. She’s an unbelievable teammate and always leads by example.”

Troxell: “I feel our team is really starting to bond right now and we’re getting better every time we step on the floor. I think that’s just because we all have one common goal and that’s to be the district champions. As for myself, I’m just playing with a lot of confidence at the moment, and I just want to do anything I can to make this team better and help get us wins. But I wouldn’t be where I am without my teammates, and we just want to keep winning games. That’s our focus.”
