Kylie Knowles, Canyon, softball, Jr.

On the diamond: Knowles was absolutely stellar in the circle leading Canyon to a pair of wins against Pampa and Hereford last week. During a 6-2 win over the Lady Harvesters for outright first place in District 4-4A last Tuesday, Knowles threw a complete game, allowing one earned run with 10 strikeouts. In a 10-0 run-rule victory against Hereford on Friday, Knowles matched that effort by tossing a no-hitter over five innings with an eye-opening seven K’s. On the season, the hard-throwing junior is 14-7 with a 3.39 ERA, totaling 124 strikeouts. During district, Knowles is almost untouchable with a 6-0 record to go with a 1.07 ERA.

Coach Styler Haddock: “Whenever Kylie is in the circle she gives us a great chance to win. Kylie has great relationship with the team and makes everyone better. She’s just a competitor, she’s a leader, and is a very unique individual. She is extremely smart, she’s in the top of her class, and you never have to tell her how to work hard. She is amazing at whatever she does.

Knowles: “I feel our season has been good so far. We’ve worked well as a team and the energy is extremely high. It’s been fun to be a part of. I felt I’ve done really well this year. I’m working to get better each time I pitch. One thing I’m focused on right now is getting to 150 strikeouts. That was a goal when the season started. We just want to go out and keep playing like we have been, and focus on getting better. That’s what is most important.”
