A Coach with a Musical Side
Known simply as “Coach Wiggins” to his players, Phillip Wiggins is described as giving, caring, and loving. While his athletes might not expect it, he can strum a guitar with skill, adding a creative flair to his personality.
His favorite pre-game meal is fried chicken, and if he weren’t coaching, he’d be working as a mechanical engineer. Without any social media presence, Coach Wiggins stays focused on his craft, often listening to WillyWiggs music in his office.
His perspective on coaching is clear: it’s about building relationships and helping athletes grow both on and off the field.
Core Values Guide His Philosophy
Coach Wiggins’ coaching philosophy is rooted in serving something greater than oneself. He emphasizes accountability and effort, inspired by the advice, “You can’t fix a flat tire by changing the driver!”
This season, his goals are ambitious yet inspiring: state championships in football, basketball, and baseball, along with regional success in track. For Coach Wiggins, the process is as important as the outcome, and he instills this mindset in every athlete he coaches.
His motto, “Do what’s right, do your best, and practice the golden rule,” serves as a guiding principle for his teams.
