It was tougher than many fans may have expected but the Pampa Harvesters scored a fourth quarter touchdown to come away with a 41-35 win at Harvesters Stadium on Friday night.

Perryton was playing its first game since Sept. 11, due to COVID-19 issues, and seemed to come out fresh. This game went back-and-forth with the game tied 35-35 entering the fourth quarter.

Pampa eventually punched in the game-winning touchdown when running back Cornelius Landers found pay dirt on a 15-yard touchdown run with 10:44 to play.

Landers has put himself in the Player of the Year conversation for his weekly performances and Friday wasn’t any different. The Rangers struggled slowing down the dynamic back as the senior put up 218 yards rushing with two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Perryton’s Pepper Hadley led the Rangers with 155 yards on nine carries and a TD.

Perryton (0-4) will play Alpine at 6 p.m. Friday in Sundown.

Pampa stays unbeaten at 6-0, and will host Palo Duro (0-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Canyon’s defense does it again in blanking of Levelland

The Canyon Eagles kept things rolling on all phases of the football and posted another shutout 40-0 against Levelland on Homecoming at Happy State Bank Field on Friday night.

Over the last four games, that equal 12 quarters, the Eagles defense has been flat out on fire pitching three shutouts against Lubbock Estacado, Midland Greenwood and now Levelland, and only allowed a field goal in a 40-3 route of Borger.

Not only did the Canyon defense blank the Loboes Friday, it was complete domination holding Levelland to 130 total yards while nabbing two interceptions for on the night. One by Brandel Barrett and the other by Jett Meek.

The defense is getting praise, but Canyon’s offense isn’t any slouch by any means. The Eagles put up 40 points with 417 yards of offense against Levelland. Quarterback Jay Defoor threw for 228 yards and three scores. Receiver Joe Shaw caught four of those passes for 45 yards with two scores,
