Bushland stays unbeaten with win over PerrytonÂ
Bushland stayed on task having absolutely no problems with Perryton getting a lopsided 44-13 Homecoming victory Friday night at Falcons Stadium.
The Falcons (6-0 overall) stay perfect on the season and are one of five unbeaten teams remaining in the Amarillo-area. Perryton drops to 2-4 overall.
The Falcons used balance to get the win over the Rangers. Quarterback Quaid Ferris had a solid outing going 14-of-19 for 240 yards with four touchdown passes. Jenner King caught two passes for TDs on top of 75 yards. Ty Purcell also made the most of his two catches as both were for scores finishing with 58 yards.
Colton Foote chewed up the Rangers thanks to 11 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive side, linebacker Jaxon Fetsch totaled 12 tackles, six of those solo, with a fumble recovery, an interception and a blocked punt.
Dalhart dismantles MuleshoeÂ
Dalhart did everything right on both sides of the ball that resulted in a big 50-21 road win that cooled off Muleshoe on Friday night on David Wood Field at Benny Douglas Stadium in Muleshoe.
Leading 14-8 at half, Dalhart broke the game open in the final two frames outscoring the Mules 36-13.
Dalhart was a mismatch for the Muleshoe defense piling up 554 total yards. The most damage came from the Golden Wolves run game that grounded out 350 yards on the night.
The Golden Wolves had a committee of running backs make an impact. Quarterback Hunter Trusler had 16 carries for 58 yards with two scores. Trusler also completed 9-of-18 passes for 204 yards with two more touchdowns.
Teammate Brett Alvar made the most of his one carry and one catch breaking loose for an 86-yard touchdown then snagged a 67-yard TD catch.
The Dalhart defense held an explosive Muleshoe passing game to 77 yards. Ben Meyer for the Golden Wolves made nine tackles, two for a loss, adding an interception and a fumble recovery.
Shallowater runs past Canadian
Canadian suffered its second straight loss to close out a very tough non-district schedule as Shallowater put together a big second quarter that lifted the Mustangs to a 49-27 victory on Chris Koetting Field at Wildcats Stadium on Friday night.
The Wildcats end the non-district portion of the schedule at 3-3 following back-to-back losses to Sunray and Shallowater. The Mustangs improve to 4-2.
Canadian scored on its opening drive, however, the Mustangs took over midway through the first quarter scoring 28 unanswered to take a 28-14 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Shallowater hurt Canadian on the ground behind a big and physical offensive line that got the better of the Wildcat defensive front. The Mustangs totaled 400 of their 512 yards on the ground.
Shallowater quarterback Cooper Martin and running back Rylan Brown did most of the damage. Martin toted the rock only 12 times for 178 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Martin was also 6-of-13 through the air for 95 yards with two more scores. Brown added 175 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Making his second straight start, Wildcat freshman quarterback Weston Mitchell did a superb job completing 27-of-41 passes for 295 yards with four touchdown tosses. Julian Dominguez was back in the lineup and made his presence felt with catching seven passes for 82 yards with a TD.

Stratford survives Childress with late TD
It wasn’t easy by any means, but the Stratford Elks were able to overcome a late rally by Childress thanks to a late answer getting a hard fought 21-14 victory on Charlie Johnston Field at Fair Park Stadium in Childress on Friday night.
The Elks close out the non-district schedule with back-to-back wins pushing their overall record to 3-2. The Bobcats suffer a second straight defeat and will head into league action at 2-4.
Stratford led 7-0 at half following a Bryce Braden one-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter. The Elks pushed that advantage to 13-0 following a Julio Valdez two-yard score set up by a Chase Lantelme 38-yard run getting Stratford inside the Childress 15-yard line.
Childress found its offense by picking up the pace late in the third getting on the board with Lucian Davis five-yard run to paydirt. After holding Stratford, the Bobcats scored on the next possession taking their only lead of the game 14-13 midway through the fourth on an 84-yard pitch and catch from quarterback Jonah Reed to Cash Hightower.
However, Stratford was able to answer down the stretch on a five-yard bruising run by Bryce Braden followed by a Braden two-point conversion giving the Elks a 21-14 advantage.
Childress had one final chance, but a drive stalled at the Elks 35-yard line with under a minute to play.
Braden ran the ball 19 times for 137 yards with two touchdowns. Braden also added 72 yards passing and made 14 tackles on defense. Teammate Chase Lantelme totaled 87 offensive yards and made eight tackles with an interception. Darius Jones was key on the defensive side as well with two INTs and seven tackles.
Davis led the Childress run game with 52 yards and a score. Kade Jenkins made a team-high 15 tackles.
Gruver remains unbeaten after rolling River RoadÂ
Gruver didn’t look past River Road at all before the Greyhounds huge district showdown with Stratford next week.
The Greyhounds took care of business at home with a convincing 56-14 win against the Wildcats on Friday night.
The Greyhounds (6-0 overall) are one of only five Texas Panhandle teams to remain unbeaten. River Road falls to 2-3 overall.
Briggs Satterfield had a typical night going 9-of-18 for 124 yards throwing four touchdown passes. Two of those TDs went to Dax Conyers, the little brother of Texas Tech tight end Jalin. Conyers carried the ball 11 times for 75 yards on top of his pair of scores.
Walker Maupin finished with a team-high 141 rushing yards on 12 carries with a touchdown.
Defensively, Stephen Cowan made eight tackles, five of those solo, and had 67 yards receiving with two TDs. Emmanuel Valverde racked up six tackles and was 8-for-8 on extra-point kicks.
Week 6 quick hitsÂ
- Farwell bounced back from a loss to Post last week with a one-sided win over rival Friona 39-13 at Chieftains Stadium on Friday. Quarterback Jonathan Armstrong led the Steers (2-4) offensive attack throwing for 189 yards with a pair of touchdowns while rushing for 129 yards on only 10 carries with another score.
- Dimmitt gave Slaton a battle but came up short in the end 57-33. The Bobcats (2-4) did get a big effort from quarterback Jack Lunsford. Lunsford totaled 205 yards with two touchdowns. Teammate Blake Howell caught four balls for 95 yards.
- Tulia was unable to make it two wins in a row falling at Guymon, Okla., 54-6. The Hornets head into district play at 2-4.
- Memphis ISD was on lock down which forced the school district to cancel their home game against Vega on Friday night due to a manhunt for fugitive Seth Altman following an officer involved shooting.
