The game stay tied into overtime. Wellington wasn’t able to move the ball on its possession in overtime giving the Panthers a chance to win the game. Panhandle did just that. On a third down and seven, Robinson delivered a screen pass to Rush Walterscheid who sprinted his way in for the game-winning touchdown to give Panhandle the exciting victory.

Brayson Choate was clutch in the win for Panhandle rushing for a team-high 132 yards on only seven carries with two touchdowns. Robinson was 5-for-10 for 71 yards with three touchdown passes and rushed it for 32 yards.

Shamrock stuns Bovina with second half rally

Shamrock had to overcome multiple adversities but somehow left Bovina with an incredible come-from-behind 30-28 victory by scoring 30 unanswered points to leave the Mustangs stunned on Friday night at Mustangs Stadium.

Shamrock’s first obstacle was its bus breaking down in the afternoon on the way to Bovina. The bus died 15 miles east of Highland Park High School. Fortunately, Highland Park ISD stepped up and let Shamrock use a bus to get the team to Bovina. The Irish were delayed getting to Bovina with the game being delayed 30 minutes.

With a frantic afternoon, the head coach Nate Skelton’s team couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start falling behind 20-0 at half and found themselves down 28-0 early in the third quarter.

However, Shamrock didn’t quit and were able to make a furious comeback behind quarterback Phillip Cook and receivers Rodney Holmes and Terry Menefield. Menefield got the Irish on the board with two touchdown catches cutting the lead 28-14. Holmes then had a scoring catch and thanks to a two-point conversion it was suddenly 28-22. Holmes then made the eventual-game winning comeback snag over two defenders with six minutes to play. The two-point conversion was once again good and Shamrock left Bovina with a furious 30-28 win.

Cook overcame three interceptions to go 28-of-39 for 352 yards with four touchdowns. Menefield had a monster effort with 12 catches for 169 yards and two scores and Holmes hauled in eight catches for 125 yards with a pair of TDs.

The Irish improve to 3-2 overall. The Mustangs fall to 1-4.
