Survive and advance

Bushland lived that playoff motto Thursday night surviving Tulia’s upset bid by pulling out a 69-67 Class 3A bidistrict overtime win before a loud and entertained crowd at Randall High School.

Tulia entered the game 9-11 and looked nothing like a below .500 team canning it’s first eight field goals of the game.

Tulia’s hot start extended late into the game as it held 51-44 lead with 7:11 to play.

But favored Bushland (19-4) rallied behind the outside shooting of Nathan Welch, who scored 11 of his game-High 29 points in the fourth period.

Bushland took its first lead with 2:20 remaining and had the last shot in regulation but missed over Tulia’s zone.

Bushland survived Tulia’s upset bid by outsourcing the Hornets 5-3 in OT.

Tulia’s Skydon White was outstanding throughout time and again making big shots and finishing with a team-high 25 points.
