On the court: Juarez has been a key cog for a Palo Duro team that is off to a tremendous start to the 2023-2024 basketball season. Juarez kept up his stellar play in the District 3-5A opener as the Dons downed Tascosa 68-35 last Friday. The sharpshooting guard and leader of Palo Duro went for a game-high 24 points on top of four assists, two rebounds and played great defense claiming six steals.

On the season, Juarez is putting up 18.4 points a game, averaging 4.3 assists with three steals a night.

Coach Marques Loftis“We’re playing really well right now. Everyone on this team is stepping up and it’s fun to see us come together. Victor has become a leader. As the point guard, we ask a lot of him and I demand a lot from him. I hold him to a high standard. He thrives on that and shows up in the big-time moments. He’s vocal and not scared to play his game. He just goes out every night and does his best.”

Juarez: “We’ve really come together and we’re playing really well as a team. Everyone has stepped up and good things are happening for us. I feel I’ve stepped up when I’ve needed to. I like to bring the energy to the team and we all just want to keep playing hard and see how this season continues to go.”
