Slayden Dickinson, Canadian football, Jr.
On the field: Over the past two weeks, Canadian football coach Andy Cavalier has put a lot of trust in junior running back Slayden Dickinson and the speedster has delivered.
In wins against Dumas and last week and then in a wild 74-67 victory at home against Muleshoe, the junior has put the Wildcats on his back to get the job done. Dickinson was called upon 38 times against the Mules rushing for an incredible 381 yards finding the endzone seven times.
Over the past two games, Dickinson has been sensational totaling 62 carries for a combined 582 yards rushing with nine touchdowns.
Coach Andy Cavalier: “Slayden has really stepped up lately. He has that ability to stay on his feet and break tackles but also does a great job of keeping the ball secure. He runs tough, he’s physical and he keeps plays alive. We have seen Slayden grow a lot from last year and he’ll just keep grinding and do what he needs to do to get better. We rely on him heavily.”
Dickinson: “I think we just have to keep working and playing on a higher level. We want to prove we’re a championship team. That’s the tradition Canadian has built. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without my offensive line. Those guys open the holes for me and push me every day to get better. I just want to keep running hard and do whatever it takes to help this team win.”
