Canyon gets revenge on rival Randall

The Canyon Lady Eagles made quite the statement by garnering a big-time measure of revenge against arch-rival Randall on Tuesday night.

Following a stunning loss to the Lady Raiders at the buzzer three weeks ago on their home court, the Lady Eagles returned the favor and then some by blasting Randall 81-52 at the House of Doom on Tuesday night.

Canyon (22-6) takes over sole possession of first place in the District 4-4A race at 11-1 with two games remaining. Randall (23-8) has now on a quick two-game losing skid falling to 10-2 in league play.

The Lady Eagles jumped all over Randall going up 20-7 after one and then a commanding 42-18 advantage into halftime. Jaylee Moss was a huge factor for the Lady Eagles scoring a team-high 19 points followed by Tai Wright’s 18. Randall’s Sadie Sanchez did finish with a game-high 24.

No. 1 Valley clinches district title with sweep of Silverton 

The No. 1-ranked Valley Lady Patriots completed the season sweep of rival Silverton getting a big 48-29 road win on Tuesday night.

The victory clinches the District 2-1A championship for Valley as the Lady Patriots get win No. 30 on the year moving to 30-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in district play. The Lady Owls (19-5) are still secure in second place at 6-2.

Leading by a slim margin of 17-14 at halftime, Valley turned up the play in the third quarter by outscoring Silverton 21-7 in those eight minutes to go up 38-21 heading into the fourth quarter.

Trinity Schlueter played strong for the Lady Patriots knocking in a game-high 24 points. Teammate Laney Edwards added nine points.

Tuesday’s top performers

Tascosa’s Aniyah Brackens kept the Lady Rebels a game behind Amarillo High pouring in 15 points in a 68-13 victory over Palo Duro.

The trio of Katlyn Magers, Berlin Bartlett and Briley Daniels accounted for 55 of Pampa’s points during a 72-54 victory against Borger. Magers had a game-high 19 with Bartlett and Daniels each scoring 18.

Spearman’s Braylen Lusby had a game-high 14 points in the Lynxettes key 55-45 win at over Dalhart. Spearman (23-5) takes over sole possession of first place in District 1-3A at 7-1.

Gruver handed Stratford its first District 1-2A loss 43-35 with junior Hannon Lankford doing the damage posting 12 points including two from beyond the arc.

Gentry Francis of West Texas High led the Lady Comanches to a key 49-46 win against Sunray at home by scoring a game-high 17 points.

Farwell stayed red-hot behind huge outings from Bella Jaime, Chloee Whitten and Makylee Baldwin. During a 98-10 win over Highland Park, that trio tallied a combined 72 points. Jaime scored a game high 26 followed by Whitten’s 24 and Baldwin’s 22 points.

Panhandle’s Avery Cathey put up 18 points in a 62-24 home win against Vega.

Kasidy Russell and Anayah Salinas kept McLean rolling with a 77-27 victory against Lefors. Russell finished with a game-high 32 points with Salinas adding 24.

White Deer’s Madi Henderson had 18 points during a 54-35 win against Groom.

Adamari Morales poured in 21 points that helped Hart beat Lazbuddie 59-45.
