
Pampa clinches District 4-4A playoff berth
The Pampa Harvesters are headed to the UIL Class 4A Division II playoffs after grounding Canyon 44-35 in a key District 4-4A matchup at the McNeely Fieldhouse in Pampa on Friday night.
Pampa (19-13) secures third place out of the district at 8-5 and will be the No. 2-seed in Division II behind Randall. Canyon (15-15) is still in the mix for the fourth and final postseason berth with Hereford. The Eagles are 6-7 in the league currently a game back of the Whitefaces (16-15, 7-6) for the fourth spot. Hereford picked up a 61-55 victory against Dumas on Friday to gain the slim advantage.
The Harvesters and Eagles had a back-and-forth battle in the first half with Pampa leading 18-17 at the break. The third quarter is where Pampa made its push going on a 13-4 eight-minute run to go up 31-21 and were in control the rest of the way.
Julian Alonzo was clutch for Pampa scoring 17 points burying three 3-pointers. Bryce Lynn chipped in with 10. Canyon’s Jordan Webber tallied a team-best 11.

Gruver remains unbeaten on the year
The Gruver Greyhounds were put to the test Friday night by the West Texas High Comanches but were able to come away with a passing grade thanks to a big second half that resulted in a 53-36 victory.
Gruver is the outright District 1-2A champions pushing its league mark to 11-0 while staying unbeaten on the year at 15-0. West Texas High falls to 10-3 in District 1-2A and 23-4 overall.
The Comanches and Greyhounds had a heated game throughout. The Greyhounds were able to close out the third quarter on a 5-0 run taking a 40-32 lead into the fourth. In the final frame, Gruver outlasted WT High pulling away for the 17-point victory.
Jett Pittman finished with a team-best 15 points. Mason Lankford followed with 12 and Brock Butler chipped in with 10.

Girls’ quick hits
Though the UIL high school girls regular season ended Tuesday there was still some seeding games to decide as well as TAPPS action to finish up.
The San Jacinto Lady Patriots made quick work of Midland Holy Cross 71-11 to go a perfect 12-0 and win the outright TAPPS District 1-2A championship. The Lady Patriots head to the postseason at 30-6 overall. Harlie Brabham had 16 in Friday’s victory for SJCA.
Dalhart was able to knock off Bushland 56-34 in a District 1-3A seeding game Friday in Stinnett. The Lady Wolves (27-6) will be the No. 1-seed in Class 3A Division I while the Lady Falcons (18-14) will be the No. 2-seed in Division I.
Follett and Booker also had a seeding game to figure out the top two spots in Division I out of District 1-1A. The Lady Kiowas won the matchup 31-16 to claim the No. 1-seed in Division I. Follett will be the No. 2-seed.
Friday’s top performers
Ladarius Godbolt scored a game-high 15 points that lifted Tascosa to a 75-46 win at Plainview. With the win, the Rebels clinch a UIL Class 5A Division I playoff berth.
Valley’s Corbin Taylor scored a game-high 27 points during the Patriots pummeling of Paducah 79-34.
Texline’s Joe Clay went for 25 points as the Tornadoes took it to Boys Ranch 93-28.
Farwell won a big matchup at Hale Center 59-49 with Ryder McElroy coming up big scoring a game-high 25 points.
Tyi Duque kept Hereford in good position for a playoff spot pouring in 18 points during a 61-55 win against Dumas.
Vega’s Luke Coneway posted a game-high 20 for the Longhorns during a 44-37 win against Sanford-Fritch.
