Following an approval during a board meeting Monday night, River Road ISD formally introduced Aaron Wampler as the new athletic director and head coach in front of the media, administration and school board Tuesday morning.

Wampler ushers in a new era for River Road athletics after Bryan Welps served 14 years in that position before resigning in March.

“I think the biggest aspects that drew me to River Road was the community and the facilities,” Wampler said. “The people I interviewed with and have met have been professional and very helpful. That’s something I felt that was something myself and my family could get behind.”
