On the court: Brackens recent outstanding play has put the Tascosa Lady Rebels right back into the District 3-5A playoff hunt. In a pair of district wins last week against Plainview and Palo Duro, the sophomore showed what she could really do. During a thrilling 81-79 home win against the Lady Bulldogs, Brackens helped lead the way with 17 points. She followed that effort up with a 19 point showing during a 49-34 victory at Palo Duro on Friday, where 15 of those points came in the fourth quarter.

On the season, Brackens has shown to be much more than just a scorer averaging 12.5 points a game to go with 5.6 rebounds a contest, 3.1 steals, and 2.9 assists a night.

Coach Betsy Baughman: “Aniyah is a gamer when the game is on line. She’s developed so much as a player on the offensive end, and she’s much more defensive then she was at the start of the year. Against Plainview she did an outstanding job. She hits big 3-pointers, and big free-throws to help us win. Aniyah had 15 points in the fourth against Palo Duro that really lifted us. She’s very fast, she’s very athletic, and she is a big difference maker.”

Brackens: “I feel we are playing so much better as a team right now. I just want to help and produce as much as I can to make us better. We’re coming together, and It has been a lot of fun playing with this team. I just want to continue to step up and give it my all.”
